Here we go again! LOL Another Pinto project!! ;D Haven't even finished any of the others, and I bought one more!! ;D
Thanks to 75bobcatv6 I got me a wagon finally!! Bob (hubby) and I drove 850 miles round trip to pick it up!!
She needs some work but it will be fun doing the work on her!! She was originally a metallic light green with a cream brown inside. The PO primered her grey and started painting the inside black. Her seats are ripped, but nothing a Wally World seat cover can't fix for now! LOL The back seat appears to be out of a different wagon, it's black! I will probably keep the inside black for now, but when I find the cruzin panels for the car, I may go back to the cream brown! The PO never got to the dash, so it is brown and kinda looks odd with all the black around it. I won't paint it black because I'm not one for switching colors from the original. I just think it looks tacky when the paint starts to wear and you can see the original color under the "new" color!
This was a squire at one time, but somebody has removed all the panels and trim. The sad thing is, they clipped off all the studs that used to hold trim on. Even removed what ever held the "slats" of the roof rack on. So I will have to most likely pop rivot the slats on (once I find some! LOL) I do have the outer rails for the rack though so I will be cleaning it up and putting it back on eventually!! I need something to tie my surf board too! LOL Cowabunga dude!!! :coolrasta: ;D
Here are a few pic that I took of her today and some from yesterday when we were loading her on the trailer!!
First off, I love this sticker!! Really fits the car right now!! LOL Bad thing is, when I washed the window with cleaner, the ink started coming off the sticker, so I don't think it will make it to the final stage! LOL
(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/Pinto/IMG_0352-1.jpg)
Let the loading begin!!!

Shew, all loaded!
Here are some of her bad points!
This one is actually worse in person. But not so bad that it can't be fixed!!!
This one has me puzzled, it doesn't seem like it is bondoed but it appears to be. The thing is, the door shuts solid and doesn't move, so I can't figure out how this is broke?? I will have to get into that later!
Good thing I am going to make this a "cruzin wagon", the pop out window on the driver side is missing its hinge thingy's!
Here are some pics of the inside! The headliner and carpet are all gone!! You know what that means?? Shag time!!! :afro: ;D LOL
I am thinking of trying to make my own headliner too!! I pieced together the Ghost's headliner, so I think it would be fun to try to make a whole headliner out of maybe a tie dyed sheet or something!!! LOL ( I tie dye stuff, so it would be fun!)
The PO started to put this steering wheel and column in the car. It had a chunk out of the wheel, but I found that on the floor, so I "mighty mended" it back on and I will just put a steering wheel cover over it! LOL Low buck here!! :look:
The passenger side had the door panel on, but I haven't looked at it close yet to see if it had been painted black or if it is black. The only other panel I have like it, is a cream colored one, which was probably what the pass. side was?
I think these seats were out of a later model year, maybe a 74 or 5. I have the doors, back door, back inside panels and hood to this car too. They were in the parts that I got with the car!
That's all the pics I have taken so far! I am going to give the car an ajax and scouring pad bath tomorrow, to hopefully knock some of the rust off for now! I will eventually sand and primer it, but for now I am doing a quicky wash. I have to wash all my Pintos in the next week and get them ready for the news on Sunday! LOL That is another thread though! Anyway, I will take some more outside pics after the bath!
So far my plans are to put a 2.0 in her. I figure it is the easiest thing to do to get her going, since that's what she was originally. I also plan on repainting her to her original green paint. I just need to find the paint code for her! She isn't really a lime, but isn't a dark green either.
More updates as she comes along!
Looks pretty good to me! Have fun working on her!
Dwayne
your welcome. I am really glad i was able to help you out Kim.
Oh Kimmy! I'm so happy for you! Think of this baby as a Shagadelic project! Tie dye headliner, two-tone green shag carpet, 8-track player, disco mirror ball hanging from the headliner, As for her green color, I think it's 4B- Bright Green Gold Metallic.

LOL Thanks Becky!!! I thought about a disco ball too! Too funny!!!! I have to say though, the 8 track is going to be out with this car! I am going to use one of my already cut bezels and install my purple cassette deck into this one!! I will try to take a pic of the deck tomorrow! LOL It is pretty cool. Hubby bought it for me a long time ago and it has only been used a short time in my old bug. When I sold the bug, I kept the stereo. I figure I could still play my ipod with a cassette adaptor, but have the luxury of FM radio! LOL
Thanks for the color type. I think you are right! It is defenitly metalic green!
I wanted to get personalized plates that said SHGN WGN, but they are already taken. When I mentioned getting personalized plates to hubby, he about had a fit! He said that he didn't want me to get another set because of how expensive it is to register a car normally, let alone to do it with a personalized plate! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/pfft.gif) He is right, but I figure, what is one more! LOL BUT to keep the piece and make it to where he is willing to go 1000 miles to get Pintos, I will stick with the plates DMV sends me! LOL I will just get a license plate frame for NOW!! LOL(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/whistle2.gif) Maybe someday down the road, the economy will come back and they will lower the fees! Ok, I can dream can't I? LOL
How about SHAGWAG or SHAG WAG? If you want it I'll donate the disco ball! My friend who has the shop near me (Vintage Sanctuary) sells them. She finds such cool stuff. When I go to my car show this coming Sunday I'll be sporting some of the things I bought from her. Kim you'd love her shop. It's crammed full of great stuff from the '40s and '50s through the 80s. Lots of '70s stuff. I hear you on the ipod thing. I miss music in my Pinto Girls! I just thought the 8-track would complement the look. ;D

You are right, it would defenitly compliment the look, but I will need to find another 8 track, so for now, it will be the cassette! LOL
As far as the disco ball, yah if you can get one cheap enough, I will buy it from you!! I would most likely only put it in at a show or something though, may be to "eye catching" for cops! LOL You know, it is actually illegal to hang stuff from the mirrors! LOL Like who doesn't!! LOL
Your friends shop sound cool, would love to see it one day! Maybe the next time I am only 150 miles from SD, will have to come check it out! LOL Can't beleive I was that close to SD getting this Pinto! LOL
I know! (using guilt-inspiring tone of voice) lol. Now- did you read what I wrote? I'm DONATING IT!!! Consider it a wagon-warming gift! lol. Remember- I helped sdend JuJu so it's only right that I offer a gift to you and her. The ball's not that big- maybe the size of a raquet ball. I wasn't suggesting you put it on the mirror. I was thinking over the rear seat area or further back. Fuzzy dice would look kewl on the mirror! lol. :hypno:

Hehe, yah I read what you said, but I know how your funds are right now! So I didn't want you to spend money you didn't have too!! ;D
Hey, that is a good idea, I can hang it from one of the headliner bows!! I will sew in a holder for it when I get around to "attempting" a headliner! ;D
All I'd be paying for is shipping! I did some gardening work for her and she owes me a little money. Anyway it's rude to refuse gifts! lol.
looks like a good project for you try this link for the paint

Thanks for the link, I will go check it out!
As far as parts that I need. I need the back plastic panel that covers the back hatch hinges. I have one but it is broken on one corner so it hangs down a bit, and the PO painted it black. It is usable but I would like to replace it one day. I would love to have the back brown seats too. Only bad thing about needing these 2 items is the cost of shipping for such large parts, specially the seats! So for now we will have to skip them! I would have you take pics first before pulling anything though. I wouldn't want you to go through the trouble of pulling stuff, and it end up being the wrong color brown! LOL
What I really need but I doubt you can get them off with out breaking them, if they are even there, is the hinge piece that holds the pop out window in to the body! If you can get those, that would be great!!
The headliner would be great to have too, but they are a pain to pull without ripping them. That is why I figure I will make one!!
Oh, I may need the seat belts out of it. I need to check if I have a tan set, but if not I could use the the fronts for sure! I will have to also check the car and see if I would need the backs! I will let you know later if I need them! I am also not sure if a set for a 72 sedan will be the same as the wagon. I would think they would be? The covers are gone on my wagon so I don't know what they are supposed to look like. I figure if I have the set out of the sedan, I would just see if they will work!
I also can't spend a lot on it right now! Hubby would have a fit if I started pouring money into it, with out even having it running yet! LOL
Thanks!!!
congrats on the new pony. i like the name. I was watching stacey david on gearzs tv he is building a 32 roadster, i cant remeber the paint company but they made him a special color that any one can buy, they called it rat roaster green. its beautifull it looks like a candy paint but its base coat clear coat. would look sweet on the cruiser.

kim talk to fred hes got brown 74 seats.
the slats for the luggage rack just bolt to he roof. they have clips that have studs attached and go through the roof. you need to install that before the headliner....
mine were not bolted Just had some pop style clips on them. the rack was Screwed into place.
I will end up having to either pop rivot or screw the slats down. All the studs on the top have been removed. I need the slats first though! LOL Yah, I knew that would have to go on before the headliner. I will also be using some silicone when installing the slats, so I want to get to both top and bottom!!
Now someone send me some slats!! ;D
Ok, the car got a Comet bath today! Here are some shots that show the differences! LOL

If I had a buffing wheel handy, I probably could have gotten more of the primer off!! LOL Alot came off though!!
WOW! What a pretty green! Even with primer marring her, SW has pretty green paint. I'm definitely seeing bright green gold metallic. At least she's disinfected! lol.
Yah, it is a pretty green!! I really like it!!
Hubby and I were talking and he wants to paint the whole inside that green too. Even the dash. He doesn't like the cream brown, and I don't like the black! So it looks like it will be the same on the inside as the outside! LOL Then we can decide what color we want the dash pad and all the inside panels. Those things will set off the green. I think it will look ok the same on both sides!
All this is going to have to wait till we find the cruzin panels first. Then I can strip the windows out and not have to worry about putting them back in! It will also give me time to get a new rubber and windshield for the front!
We will go ahead and put a motor in it and it will be drivable till then, but it will just have seats and some floor mats for now. He doesn't want me to put the carpet in until we paint it. He thinks that once I put it in, I won't want to take it back out! :look: Believe me, I will want to take it back out and put new carpet in once we paint it! LOL But to keep him happy, I will probably leave it out! He's just no fun! LOL ;D
looks good.
Just testing to see if this pic comes out bigger on the forum. Didn't shrink it as much on photobucket so I wanted to see if the forum shinks them automatically!
Yep, forum shrinks them to a smaller size! This above pic looks better bigger! LOL ;D
Today I started to get the wagon ready for the news shot on Sunday! I put the front seats back in and fixed the back seats metal panel. The PO had the hinge piece removed so I re-attached. Since I didn't have any clean carpet for the back I did the next best thing!! Used a blanket!! LOL ;D To make the seats look better, I got the good old seat covers!!
It's amazing what a little cover up will do to the appearance!!! ;D
Hey Kim!
Glad to see you got her home! That is a cool shade of green! Are you going back to Squire wood trim on the outside, or are you gonna have to fill all those holes? Use some heavy steel wool with that Ajax and Elbow Grease, and that primer will be gone in no time. If it started coming off that easy they probably didn't prep it well to start. Plus the spray primer has a tendancy to dry on the way to the car on hot days, and dry paint don't stick. Better to start on a fresh surface! As for that door jamb issue, well just slather some fiberglass filler over it and pretend you didn't see it :lost: ;D...and by all means, don't pick at it! who knows what you'll uncover!
I think earthquake has a set of cruzer panels. I was going to get them but they're up for grabs if you want them, since you have a wagon and I don't. ;)
Send him a PM and tell him 'Disco sent you! :afro:

Thanks for the steel wool info, I will try that when I get a chance!! Also the fiberglass idea for the jamb is good too. I think my hubby will probably use a bondo type fibrerglass stuff called MarGlass. Not sure on the spelling of that!! LOL
As far as the cruzer panels, Earthquake just pm'd me today and said they are already pending sale. That and Blink77 has made me an offer I can't refuse on a set!!! ;D So I should be good for the cruiser panels now!! Just waiting for him to get time to ship! Which I will wait patiently because of the deal that he offered!! ;D ;D ;D
I'm still kinda of debating on the wood trim. Hubby and I have discussed it when we first got the car and are pretty sure we will just swap the front fenders for non squire ones, and fill the holes in the rest of the car. BUT, I'm not sure if that is what I really want to do. I have thought about trying to find the trim pieces that go around the wood, then just painting where the wood would go, a different color then the main car color. Maybe try to match what ever color interior I choose. Then I would paint the trim peices an even lighter colro to make sure it brings out the whole picture!! ;D So that will have to thought about a bit more before I do all the body work. Another deciding factor would be finding the trip peices! LOL If I can't find them, I will fill in the holes! ;D
Hubby wants to get a motor in it and have it running before we start doing other major stuff to it! Which is fine with me, because I will drive it the way it looks now, holes and all! ;D
Look what showed up today!!!!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/cheerleader.gif)
I am now one step closer to having a cruisen wagon!!!! ;D ;D
It was a good day to day. My panels arrived and my new windshield rubber came on the same truck!! :tgif: ;D (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/wings.gif)
A special thanks to Blink77 for the cruiser panels and roof slats!!! He has been and still is ( I'm getting more stuff from him!!) a pleasure to do business with!!!!
Do you have the clips that hold the interior panels on? I'd like to get the dimensions for those.
grats kim nice work keep it up.

Yes, Blink77 left those on the interior panel. Here are some pics of them. Did you need to know how far the are apart from each other or how big the clip is?
Those clips go along the sides and top, then this plastic thing is at the bottem in to spots!
I will probably be attatching my interior panesls via a different way. Not sure how yet, but my car never had the panels so it doesn't have the holes for the clips. Maybe I can do a "studded" look and just screw them to the inside?? Not sure until we get into that part of it. Either that, or I may have to find another interior panel for the rest of the clips for the other side, then just drill the holse in the car?
mine were screwed in =)
Kim
I can't believe I didnt send you both inner trim
panels. I thought about it, but I even had to unwrap
the packsge, as I had forgotten to put the roof slats
in. I've got 3 more sets of panels with interior panels
left. I can take a picture of the brackets on the car,
and send you a template so you could make them and be able
to attach them (the inner panels) the way they were attached
originaly. I could just send the clps and brackets, but the
other parts will require a package big enough to accomodate
the panel at very little if any addition cost to ship.

I just found out that my hubby's kid can get the chrome stuff that go around the port holes!!! I'm debating now if I want to try to pull the port holes out to paint. Only thing I worried about on doing that would be messing up the rubber! I still need to ask the kid if he can get the rubber or not! I am thinking that the chrome stuff is probably just universal!
get me some too kim. I need them!
Kim: Your wagon is coming along nicely......It really will be a great car once you're finished with it. I too had a 1975 Ford Pinto Wagon when my wife and I were first married. It was the same shade of green as yours. Currently I have the following items, I will give to you for shipping, if you need any of them:
#1Luggage Rack for a Ford Pinto Sedan/Runabout model, includes the slats...in pretty good shape...although I think you have those already.
#2Two decent front seats out of a 1978???? Ford Pinto....the insets are cloth, and should be replaced with vinyl, but the vinyl parts of the seats are in good shape, except a small tear in the driver's (normal wear from rubbing when getting in and out)
#3The green (same color as yours) dashboard, out of a I don't know what year or model of Pinto. Decent shape, but missing all the attached items, would be the dash only.
I have a few other items, just let me know what you need, if I have them, they are yours for the shipping only. I'm not going to need these things, and they're just being wasted sitting in my garage, when someone can get some use out of them. I live in Muncie, Indiana, so shipping to California could be a little steep. Anyway, just let me know. Good luck on the wagon, aren't Pintos just great?????? Larry :police:

Kim
I got the wagon in the shop last night. I'll be
pulling the trim off this weekend. When I get it
wrapped I'll get you shipping cost. I'll send you
pictures of my progress.
Bill
Cool, Thanks!!! I will be looking forward to the pics, and the trim! LOL!!!
It's done!!!! ;D
My camera was acting up but here a a couple of pics!!

(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/laughing6-hehe.gif) Ok, I was just messin' with you all!! Tried to play with one of the toy cruisen wagons I got!! LOL ;D
Not much of an update, but I wanted to share anyway!!
So, me and hubby were sitting out in the garage talking about the Pinto hauler and what the next steps to getting it ready to get painted, and he mentioned how he was going to talk to the paint guy about a guy he knew that did body work. He said he was going to ask the body work guy if he would be interested in coming over and doing the body work on the Shagon Wagon!!!! ;D ;D ;D So now I"m kinda excited that the Shagon Wagon will possibly be done right and done nicely!!! I sure hope the guy will do it!!!! I have all these pics. in my mind on how it will look when it is done!! Can't wait to see if it will be what I pictured!!
I will soon be updating with pics!! I hope!! ;D
Sounds like a step in the right direction, Kim! I can't wait to see how it turns out either!!!
Dwayne
This is just a "thinking about" update!! LOL
I may have found a factory a/c Pinto. If all goes right I will hopefully be getting all the a/c stuff out of it soon. If that does happen I plan on putting it in Shaggie. That means the dash in Shaggie will have to come down. IF that happens I am "thinking about" (lol) pulling everything out of the dash and repainting it the "correct" way. I was just going to shoot it right in place, I didn't want to mess with taking all the wiring and all out. I'm not the best at remembering where things go.
If this does in fact happen, I plan on taking ALOT of pics. To remind me later on how things looked before I took them out! LOL
So, it is looking like Shaggie will be down for a while. I was planning on just running her the way she was for a while, but looks like she will be restored a bit better then expected and will take a while to do. Good in a way and really bad in a way, for someone that has the patients of a flea!! LOL I REALLY want to drive her!!! Good things come to those who wait! Right! LOL
I will be taking pics and updating as we go, may even be able to submit some to the magazine!! I am hoping hubby will stick with this and not let it go on a back burner. One of the reasons I didn't want to submit anything to the Mag. !! I will keep you all posted!!
When you wrote..."...found an a/c Pinto.", Does that mean you have added another rubber-shoed herd member or is this poor Pinto soul in the junkyard awaiting the inevitable? Do tell! ;D

Ok, I wasn't going to mention it, but, no I don't have the Pinto. It is in a junk yard. I am hoping everything will still be there come next weekend. They have half off prices do to the holiday!!!! So cross your fingers and send juju that no one else gets the stuff before I do!!
It is really sad. This car is an MPG car. First one I have ever seen in person. It is in really good shape with all parts still intact. Well, except for the parts we snagged today. LOL I grabbed the headlight doors and the horn button! LOL I have a thing for the round horn buttons! ;D
Once I get the Pinto Hauler done, I am placeing an ad letting people know that I will pay what PnP offers them or a bit more for their Pintos! I couldn't believe it when I saw this car out there today! Not a bad looking car at all! It could have been easily restored. What a shame! If I would have ended up with it, I wouldn't even have scrapped it. That is how good it was! Oh well, hopefully I can salveage the stuff I need for Shaggy, so it will live on in her!
Ok, I just ordered this plate for Shaggy!!! It was the closest I could get to her name!! ;D
(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/Picture1-3.jpg) ;D ;D ;D
When I first started playing with plates on dmv's site a couple days ago, I could get Shaggee. It was gone today.
Now I just wait 8 - 12 weeks! LOL Maybe by then I will have her registered!! :hypno:  ;D Yah, sad to say, still working on paperwork. This is the last time I buy a car with no pink!!! :-\

It sounds like you need your own Reality TV show:
"18 Pintos and Counting"(Each family member is assigned jurisdictions to keep Pintos running)
"Kim & Hubby plus 8 " (Pinto's with rotted floorboards are powered with 16 childrens feet)
"Kim, The Pinto Hunter" ("Tracking" Pintos,Hubby, not Beth is the sidekick)
"American Pinto" (Disfunctional family hammers metal into Pinto's)
"The Little Car" (A story of Pintos in a SUV world)
"Pinto Ladder" (about restoring Pinto's for resale)
"Survivor car" (where you hunt Pick N Pull until you can assemble a running Pinto)
"What not to drive" (a tongue in cheek show about the "Dangers" of driving a Pinto)
"Pinto Whisperer" (solves quirky Pinto problems)
;D Tom
I like The Pinto Hunter!!!  ;D

How about Big Pinto Love, or Is Eight Pintos Enough? or Click and Clack With Pintos In The Back, or...
on another note, I wish you got a picture or two of the MPG. Interior/exterior color(s)? (you know where I'm going with this.)
JuJu sent. :)

Man what a bummer. Good thing is, Fred will be gone for another month or so!! You may be able to re-save the money back up before he gets home!!!!! ;D
That was saved over 2 months. I worked alot of extra hours to get that money together. will take me till after the new year to get again. (holidays zoop)
Today I finally started to tear into the motor that we are wanting to put in the Shagon Wagon.
So far it has gone from this,
(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/Pinto/IMG_7279.jpg)
To this,
(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/Pinto/IMG_7316.jpg)
I figured I would stop there for now, till hubby came home from work. That way I don't take to much off. I'm not sure what all he wants off!! I know his plan is to do a test fit into the wagon, once it comes home! I think once we know for sure if this set up will work or not, we will re build the motor! Then I can paint it and give more before and after pics! ;D ;D
Shaggy comes home tomorrow!!!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/wings.gif)(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/cheerleader.gif)
I plan on hanging the cruiser panels on her to see what she looks like with them on her!!! I will take pics of course!! LOL
I'm going to try to pull the heater box out of her with out removing the dash. Then putting the a/c one back in. Think it is possible?? If not, I will be removing the dash insted! LOL
Yippeeee, I finally got my wagon back home!! Now it is mine and will always be mine!!! LOL
I got right to work on it. I took the grille off (to not break it trying to put a motor in) and took the hood off. Then I decided to try the cruisin panels on for size! ;D Wish I would have decided to do that first because then the pics would have been better! No hood kinda takes away from the overall look!!
Here she is with panels!!

It was hard to get decent pics. The day was wearing down and the driveway is a bit packed! Can't wait for the kid and his girlfriend to find a house!! LOL
The panels are just vice gripped in for now, I will probably jam the windows then hang the panels on for painting!
Depending on how I feel after work tomorrow, I will most likely start taking the heater box out from under the dash!!
Good job! I hope upur project moves along faster than mine, took almost 3 years to get mine done! DON'T pay the bodyman ahead of time....
You'll love driving it, I do mine!! I plan on driving my to the Cars and Parts Swap meet in Springfield, Ohio FRIDAY...on the look out for Pinto/Falcon and other hot rod parts...
John
Look what happened over last weekend!!!!!
Yep, Shaggy made it inside the garage!!!!
I already took the windshield out and finished takeing some of the dash components out. Now I just need to remove the dash and the heater core box. Then we can see how the new/used a/c heater box fits. I will take pics and update as we go!! I hope to do a lot of this work this up coming week! I had one week of vacation left and had to take it before mid Oct., so I only have 3 days till vacation!!! ;D Then after mid Oct. my vacations start all over and I gain one more week for a total of 5 weeks a year!!!! Yippeee!! ;D ;D Anyway, I will update on the progress!!
Woohoo! Looks familiar, with the windshield out. Enjoy the dash removal, it's plenty 'o fun once you get under there. Take a look at my project thread here in the near future to see this stuff going back together. I actually went home at lunch today and reinstalled my restored vent assembly and firewall plate to hold the power brake booster. I have to reinstall my repainted (yeah, I'm a NUT) windshield wiper motor tonight.
Have a good time, I'll be curious to follow your progress. Thanks for sharing. I love taking these cars apart!!
Chris
Well, thanks to Fred, I have made a lot of progress on Shaggy!!!! He is here visiting so what better thing to do, but to work on the Pinto!!! ;D ;D
Today Fred and I got the dash pulled!!
Then he told me how to take the clutch pedal and brake pedal out! So I took them out and installed the automatic brake pedal!! So I am now and automatic car instead of a stick!! ;D ;D
Then I pulled the heater box
(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/Pinto/IMG_7474.jpg)
I set the a/c heater box next to the non a/c one and for a while there we thought it wasn't going to work! We decided that I should make a template to see if any of the bolts would line up and to see if the a/c part would stick through the fire wall. So I got some cardboard and made the template and with that I was able to determine that 2 of the bolts looked to be in the same spot and the a/c part would fit through the old heater box fan hole. So I made marks on the car to drill the 3rd bolt hole, and the heater hose holes. Then I went to work drilling. Got the holes done and tried to install the a/c box. No go. So with further inspection we decided I needed to make my holes a bit bigger, even if it meant I had to use bigger washers to bolt it on! So that is what I did, and with some pushing and prodding, we got the 76' a/c heater box to fit in a 73' Pinto wagon!!
Hey, that's not Fred!!!!
How do you install an a/c unit?? Use a hydrolic jack!!!!! LOL
(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/Pinto/IMG_7477.jpg)
So Shaggy got his brake pedal R&R'd, then dash removed and the heater box R&R'd. So now the next step for me will be to finish cleaning the windshield goop off the pinch weld of the car and also off the dash. Then I will remove all the stuff out of the dash in preparation for the paint job!
Shaggy is coming along nicely!!!! ;D ;D
Boy! His (or her?!) green paint really glows in those last pix. I'm loving that color more ands more... Kimmy, what is Shaggy's code for the color?

I know I'm glad you kept your Pinto!!! ;D It's a nice car!!!
Thanks for the cheer!!! ;D ;D Nice to see you online!!!
Kim...I love Shaggy....WOW!!! and I thought I had a job restoring my 1971 I got off of Reed. I seen nothing like that!!!!! The color is fantastic, my wife and I had a 1975 Pinto Squire wagon the same color, back in the late 70s. Good luck on your restoration, the car is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! BTW...I still have a green dash sitting in my garage, it's pretty much stripped, no glove box cover, ash tray, etc. But the dash is in good shape. I know you hate to think of the VIN Change and such, but it's there if you want it.
Larry :police:
Well I have some possible good news, and possible bad news. Let's start with the bad. Bad news is, I may be getting rid of my brown sedan (the real brown one, not the Ghost). I will take the molding, bumpers, grille, and interior out of her before she goes though. The guy only wants a shell, doesn't even want the running gear. I am having a hard time with this though. I really hate to get rid of one of my sedans. They are may favorite, and even though I get to keep all the good stuff off of her, I will hate to see her go.
The good news is, the guy that wants this sedan shell, will do the body work and paint on my Shaggie!!!! So I am hoping that I can get the Pinto stripped of the stuff I want to keep, and Shaggie sent off to this guy's shop, but sometime in the middle of this month, or beginning of Dec. That is my plans anyway. I always figure these things out on how I want them to work, and Bob throws a kink into it! LOL
I have another delima now! LOL Since I got the brown wagon (see Wagons Ho thread), I'm not sure what I want to do with the interior of Shaggie now!! Shaggie was originally tan inside. We were going to paint her the same green as her outside, then use different color panels and seats for the accents. Those interior colors would also be the color we would paint the "woodgrain" area of the outside. Well, the brown wagon has an almost perfect tan headliner, perfect door panels, and really decent seats. Bad thing is, they are all tan! LOL I just don't think tan would look good as the "woodgrain" color on top of the green that the car is. I think what I am going to do is still paint the inside the same color as the outside, paint the woodgrain a darker green, then paint the molding for the squire a lime green. I think just the tan seats, panels and headliner will still set off the inside, but yet the outside will still look good in all greens.
I wish I was more computer literate when it comes to photoshop. I would love to take a side shot of a wagon, and be able to change the woodgrain area color and the molding color on it. That way I could kind of see what my color green car would look like with different color woodgrain areas!! ;D ;D Anyone know how to do this sort of thing?? ;D
Wow, look, finally an update on Shaggy!!! LOL
Yesterday hubby made some shelving units to store Pinto stuff that needed to be in a warmer atmosphere then what it is in the Pinto shed!! So today we put the door panels and some of the seats up on the shelves. In order to do that though, we had to move Shaggy out of his space. Then after we did it, we had to clean up the space. That gave me the perfect opportunity to have hubby help me R&R Shaggy's rear hatch!!
Now Shaggy is sporting a 77 Defrost style window, hatch!!! ;D ;D

Here is the storage shelf!! Above the shelf is 2 smaller shelves for the door panels!!!
Not much of an update, but at least we got one more step closer to painting!!! ;D
gotta ?? can u use an explorer headliner??? it is molded and rigid but flexable it is one peice and no steel support bows undo the top trim and pop the headliner in

I wouldn''t know the answer to that! Maybe someone else will know! Sounds like something to check out though!! ;D
