Front under bumper air dam alternative.
« on: July 26, 2005, 10:35:35 AM »
I mentioned in the " Projects" area that I am using the front air dam off a Buick regal on my 77 Pinto. I need to make a correction on that statement. It is not a Buick Regal but a 88-89 Chevy Celebrity. I happened to see this dam on a car that my friend was towing off and asked to have it. I found that the louver was an excellant match to the stock grill on my Pinto. The front width was good for a fitup right to the underside of the bumper with the fabrication of some small brackets. The only thing that I had to cut was the wrap arounds. They needed to be a little shorter. Then the back of the wrap arounds screwed right into the front/lower wheel wells. There is a space that could be filled on the front side body but I never did. Also there is about a 1/2 inch flat that runs along the bottom of this spoiler which enabled me to  screw a 2 inch piece of sheet metal to to extend the dam downward. I have had mine on there since 92. I will post better pics of this down the road a bit. Mine is off right now cause I am doing the radiator thing.
Started with a Bobcat wagon. Then a Cruising wagon. Now a Chocolate brown 77 wagon. I will enjoy this car for a long time. I'm in. High_Horse

I had a little time so I thought I would pop off some pictures of this thing while it was off the car. The picture below is the spoiler flipped upside down with the 77 grill right side up in front of it.
