Will I have problems getting the newer motor to run with the carburetor? Will it bolt up to the transmission?
That '92 engine should have a head with 8 spark plugs. The head has different intake ports and a different bolt pattern for the intake than the old carbureted manifold.
I suppose what you could do is rebuild the original Pinto head and put it on the newer block. You will also have to swap over the crank pulley to the old V type belt.
Then you got the problem with the oil pan. You will need a front sump pan to fit that block. They did change things a little around the rear main area.
The newer block will bolt up to your four speed.
Really, I think Poison Pinto is right. It would be easier to just rebuild the original motor, or at least one of the same vintage.
