Progress report on 78

Yesterday was faily progressive. I've gotten all the inner fenders, door jams, interior, floor boards all painted. Now I'm ready to start w/ the base coat/ clear coat on the exterior. This is going quicker than I expected. Just hope re-assemble goes as fast as dis-assemble

Tell me about it that's the way it's gone on all my cars. I don't understand how that happens. I do know one thing for certain that air box for the A/C, heater core was not designed to come out w/ the dash in. I think they hung it by a wire and said " Build a car arouhd this" ;D

Lookin in my trusty haynes manual I can tell you that getting the A/C box out would be worse than a jigsaw puzzle!

Usually they say that about the heater core....right after it throws a leak and gets changed!

Well the A/C, heater core box is out w/ dash still in car but it was not an undertaking I will be repeating any time soon (pain in the butt). You can bet before that little jewel goes back in it's getting a new heater core. I'm going to try to post some pics of my Pinto soon. Hope to start on engine build fairly soon

Well I'm back at it the little 2.3 is in a bazillion pieces. Everything looks great hardly any ridge, combustion chambers are clean, think I'll have to bore it about .020" to clean up the cylinder walls plus I have a tiny bit of lateral motion in the pistons. Figure what the heck don't half step it. The crank looks like it just needs a quick polish and will go back std. same with cam and aux. shaft. So far so good. I'm trying to figure out how to put a regular FoMoCo 2bbl carb on my stock intake. I unbolted the stock carb. and riser block and it looks like the bolt pattern is the same as a 2bbl does anyone know for certain before I waste the money and time if it will fit????  Oh yeah by the way hope everyone had VERY HAPPY HOLIDAYS
