PAINT AND INTERIOR COLOR
« on: August 14, 2012, 06:56:02 AM »
I need help in getting interior Paint for my restoration project on 1972 Pinto Wagon.   Build sheet Indicates exterior "PAINT as 4P" (Mediium Green Metallic) and indicates  "TRIM" as CODE DR.  I cannot find reference to what color "CODE DR" is for the interior.   Please help.  Thanks, jt

HEY JOHN, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU SAW IT, BUT I RESPONDED TO YOUR REQUEST FOR THE COLOR INFORMATION YOU NEEDED ON 8/11. I CALLED MY LOCAL PPG STORE, AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY STILL CAN MAKE THE COLOR FOR YOU IN LACQUER. THE FORMULA NUMBER IS DIA44296 AND IS SEMI-GLOSS. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, BUT SOME AREAS OF THE U.S. HAVE BANNED THE SALE OF LACQUER SO I FOUND OUT THROUGH THE PPG COLOR LIBRARY THAT THEY HAVE AN OFFSET FORMULA IN DELTRON BASECOAT INTERIOR. I HAVE THE FORMULA IF YOU NEED IT.  DAVE

I am good on the exterior paint.  I know the color and am good to go.  What I NEED is the interior color (it is different).  The metal portions of the doors on the inside need to be painted.  Thanks, jt

HI JT,   THE COLOR FORMULA MIX NUMBER I GAVE YOU IS FOR 1972 FORD PINTO INTERIOR CODE "DR". THIS IS THE COLOR THAT IS USED ON MOST METAL SURFACES ON THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. ON THE DASH THEY WOULD USE A VARIANT OF THAT COLOR, BUT IT WOULD HAVE MORE FLATTENER IN THE PAINT SO IT WOULD BE LESS REFLECTIVE. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL COLOR CHARTS FROM PPG AND THE INFO BECAUSE I WAS A PPG AUTOMOTIVE PAINT JOBBER FOR 17 YEARS AND NOW I OWN A MUSTANG RESTORATION SHOP.  DAVE
