A few questions before my turbo project begins.
« on: September 08, 2004, 04:59:29 PM »
Ok here we go. I have a 72 2.0 4-Speed Pinto trunk model. It is 100% stock. When I bought the car it was a project car that was abandoned before the mods began. I got the car with an 8" rear and all the springs and such to install it out of a 6 banger Pinto. I have access to a few turbo motors including a SVO that is wreaked and parted out. I heard you need to cut out and weld in the 2.3 frame to motor mounts. I was told though that you can also make a braket that relocates the motor mount back enough to keep the stock frame mounts. Has any one here done this? My friend who is a 2.3 turbo nut (Owns two SVOs and a shop) wants to install it and says he will give me a great deal mainly because he wants to see what that motor will do to a 2240 LB car as opposed to his 3000 LB
SVO. It will get the PE computer and a front mount intercooler, A WC T-5 and 4.11 gears. Oh and ported upper and lower intake and a fully ported big valve head with a .420 lift roller cam and a ported E-6 turbo manifold. Any one have a combo like this? what kind of performance\ gas milage does it get? I want it to be a good all around car and I plan to add sway bars and better shocks and stuff.

A good place to start asking questions like this would be   www.turboford. org      My Pinto came with a 2.3 in it, so I didn't have to do anything with the mounts. I have heard of guys on the turbo site welding in their own, so I know guys there can help. You can check out my site ...may help a little. Member"Glassman" also has a good detailed site of his project as well.

YES, I have a combo like that. Well, I did have a 84 SVO motor in my 72 before I put in the 2.5. Take a look at my Green Pinto and you will see the front mout innercooler etc. BTW, contact me off line, I have all the stuff you need.
