I'm going to start working on my pinto, ultimately resto-modding it. Here's what I have planned:
5 lug conversion), wilwood disc brakes (front and rear), ranger master cylinder 8" rear with positrac, 3.40 gears, T5 transmission, 2.3 or 2.5 turbo DIS engine (probably highly modified, eventually), air conditioning, wheels, etc.
The rest is obvious. Body work, paint, interior, etc.
Main thing I want opinions and information on is the drivetrain. Are the wilwood brakes a good idea?
How will they work with a ranger master cylinder?
Where can I get 5 lug axles made at for this car and what length/lug patern do they need to be?
Any specific posi unit recommended?
Do 3.40 gears sound like a good compromise between power and economy with a T5 trans?
What size wheels will I need with the wilwood brakes??
Stuff like that I need some ideas on. I want this to be a nice car, and fun too. Something to take on roadtrips and such. It will take some time to get it all done, the rear end alone i figure is going to cost me probably $2000 or so since I do not want to use my stock 3.00 non-locker rear end or crummy drum brakes...
Any other ideas and comments would be appreciated. I think so far everything sounds like it will work excellent together.
