Are they 4 or 5 speeds?  Do any of them have a little aluminum tag hanging off a bolt on the tailshaft?

Well there is this website.

http://www.ddperformance.com/Trans%20ID%20chart.htm

But that will only handle the 5 speeds.

I have never seen anything for the 4 speeds but maybe this will help.

I have Ford shop manuals from 1970 to 1979. However, being a truck driver it'll be a couple of weeks before I get back home. Most Pinto four speeds were 3.65-1.97-1.37 and 1:1 and reverse was 3.65. Starting in 1978 most Pinto four speeds were 3.98-2.14-1.39- and 1:1. There were exceptions of course. The same Hummer Trans were used in four cylinder Fairmonts/Zephyrs and Mustang II fours. The Mustang II v6's were Borg Warner SR4 transmissions which are identifiable by the fact they look a lot like T5 five speeds. The regular Passenger car three speeds were mostly 2.99-1.79-1:1
and the four speeds were either 2.78-1.93-1.37-1:1 or 2.32-1.69-1.31 and 1;1. Once again depending on application they were exceptions to the above. When I get back home for the group I will exhume all Trans tag codes with gear Information and post it here for reference. I should have it entered by Decmber 1st. Hope this helps.
