wanted - 73 wagon gas tank
« on: September 25, 2023, 08:04:19 AM »
I'm looking for a usable gas tank with sending unit to fit a 73 wagon.

Willing to travel to get one/pay shipping/whatever. Just need to find one.
Thanks.

I don't know of availability, but about 40 years ago I had a leaky gas tank.  I removed the tank, sanded it to bare metal, then coated the underside and up over the seam with fiberglass cloth and resin.  I knew some gas stations had fiberglass tanks so I figured it was worth a try.  It worked fine.  No leaks and I drove it like that for several more years until I junked the car.  It never leaked again.

The gas tank was missing when I bought the car.

You might try Row 52 https://row52.com/ . They have a list of cars in yards nationwide (most self serve) and I believe links to people who will pull the part for you. I can't speak to the integrity of that service but I know my nephew used Row 52 for finding parts local to him and getting them himself. There is an "alert service" that lets you know when a desired car is found.
