Low mileage Pinto for sale...

Low miles? 3000 miles at a quarter mile each? It's nothing like an old lady from Pasadena taking it to church on Sunday!

And don't forget the the odometer goes backwards when the car backs up after a burn out!  ;D  Although..., it puts a lot more miles on the odometer at the time of the burn out than actually travelled. So, I guess no advantage there.  ::)

8 years ago my son bought a 14 year old Honda Civic with only 18,000 miles on it. It truly was the "little old lady" car. In fact at year 12 the woman dies and the person who managed her estate bought the car with..., 1,500 miles! His daughter rolled it up to 18,000 miles over two years and that was when my son bought it. He paid twice the going rate ($3,000 vs $5,900) for any other 14 year old Civic BUT, those cars easily had 120,000+ miles on them.

So, at 18,000 miles I asked him if he thought he could buy 100,000 unused miles elsewhere for $3,000? He got my point and paid the premium. Today he still has the car and though it now has 140,000+ miles and has lost its "low miles" mystique it has served him well and we see it as a worthwhile investment. A 24 year old Civic with 140,000 is still low miles for its age and he likely could still get $2,500-$3,000 for it.
