They used my 73 as a basis for their models. I sent about 20 photos of my car. I even got one of the first ones made. It was sent to my house. The model I got was green with a white top. If you look closely at your model you will see a line on the top. This was a seam in my vinyl top that was put there when the previous owner had it redone. The upholsterer said he didn't have enough material in avocado green to do a one piece top so he had to put that seam down the middle. There are also aftermarket speakers in the doors, these were also taken from the many photos of my interior that were sent along with the exterior shots. If you look closely at the rear license plate you will see a frame that says Friendly Ford, this was also on the car when the photos were taken. I had a PCCA sticker on the car but that did not make it on to the model. I may have the option of buying a couple of cases to resell, If I do the prices will be very reasonable, of course my sons want a couple for their own, I am trying to teach them the value of Pintos as well as all vintage Fords. All in all this was a great little bit of nostalgia for me and produced a few memories. I found out about this opportunity right here on this board, Motormax put out a call for someone to allow them to photograph a Pinto and I responded. Johnny Lightning is supposed to be putting out a 1/64 Pinto this year. Pretty cool huh?

just got back from walmart as came home with 2 1/24 scale pintos a green and brown. it is labled as a 1974.the price was $9.94 each. they said they just  came in and the 1/64 should be there soon. on the back drop in the box there is a little story about the history of the pinto and even mentions PCCA and Fordpinto.com.
very cool car

Yeah, I just went today to get some things and decided to stop and see if they had any. They did! all they had left was two Poppy red ones, labeled 1970, and they also had a yellow 1970 Ford Maverick so I picked that up too! So cute! I didn't see any of the 1/24 scale ones though...oh well, I got my $6.48 worth! ( I wish they would have had a dark blue one, that would have really made my day...)
Yes I know, I have a sad life. :drunk:

I must be just a young collector based upon your age group .  this is what my wife gets to look at every morning when she wakes up .it's only 1 of 3 walls coated - not to mention the other 4 rooms in the house . even my kids have told me i have too many toys .  my  wife says it's not a collection - it's an obsession .

Hello group

I am curious about what was written on the box. I sent Motormax some information from my 73 sales brochure. The model I got came in a generic box. I guess the retail box that  you have was not ready when they sent mine out. See my previous post and let me know if some of the details are included in the model sold at WM.

Hey Tercin,
I`ve included a couple pic`s of the Fresh Cherrie`s Pinto in the package...the print is too small to read...so here is the quote from the back of the package:
"A Pinto is a small horse with a patchwork coat; it`s also a small car Ford produced in the U.S. The Pinto was an important car in the 1970`s,partly due to it`s fuel economy during the oil crisies of that decade. It was available in two-door sedanor hatchback and station wagon bodystyles.Although Ford sold thousand`s of Pinto`s,there aren`t too many around anymore.Nevertheless, club`s such as the Pinto Car Club of America and websites such as www.fordpinto.com,continue to spread the word and preserve the legacy of Ford`s trusty Pinto."

Tercin,
the detail you described is the same as the one I picked up at wallmart. the saying is different on the 1/24 car.
" Pinto as it is named , is a small horsewith patches; A small car that Ford introduced into the U.S. car market, after their sucess with the bib brother Mustang.
The Pintos was an important car in the 70's, partly due to the its fuel econemy in the oil  crisis.
It was made in 2 doors, 3 doors hatch back, and station wagon format.
Thousands of these were sold, but most did not last long. Now we have clubs like " Pinto Car Club of America", and  web sites, such as www.Fordpinto.com that linked the once and now owners together, and share their memories and experiences with this little car that has made history but lacking the attion of what a historic car should have."
the gramatical errors and all. the last pare is hard to read in the box , but  the boys need one out for there shelf.

Your shelf looks great. The Pinto certainly should be the centerpiece.  My local WM has the space already labeled and ready to go. All they need now are the toys. The woman that runs the toy dept here is not always helpful to us collectors, some of the people that work for her are the best.  The Pintos will arrive sooner or later.

hmm, wonder if we have any pull at Motormax Toys (we being the collective FordPinto.com who is mentioned on the back of the packaging on the Fresh Cherries die-cast cars) to request other years *cou-1976-gh* / styles *cou-stationwagon-gh* or colors *cou-fordorange-gh*? Sorry, must have a tickle in my throat.

well, I guess some would argue that it is very light orange, not yellow. Compared to the Red/Orange one it looks yellow to me. If all the packaging is the same, it's the one printed on the front, behind where the car sits.

If that doesn't help, I'll try and take a pic of it and get it posted.

I haven't seen any 1:24's either, except on ebay. Just noticed that one of the little ones has a bid on it for over $14!!  I paid $1.97 for the same one at wally world. hmm, might have to snag up all I can find locally. Motormax told me that we could get some made with our logo on them but it would be a pretty large minimum. I don't know if we could sell them and someone would have to come up with the $ up front. A risky proposition considering the problems with the first calendars. I still haven't seen the 1:24s at WM yet.

I now have both the 1:24 scale pintos and the orange 1:64 one.  The larger ones are going to be re-done when I get the chance.  One will be remodeled to look like my car does now (that sunroof is going to be a pain!).  The other will be rebuilt to match my car when (read: IF EVER) I finish with it...  I'll have to dig thru model supply houses to find the proper wheels, scale engines and such...

As for the large scale ones, apart from the roof seam, the back is seems little off...  It's like the roof is a little long and the hatch angle is a bit too steep.

Well, if not for this site mentioning this topic awhile back I wouldn'tve had a clue about these diecast Pinto's. So first, I'd like to thank you guys for the heads up, as I collected Pinto's years ago and still LUV them.
Anyway, my son & I went to Walmart just a couple evenings ago, and sure enough there was two, there was also 3 of Mavericks and a Mustang II.
I grabbed them all!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not usually one for buying toys so my son looked at me like .... :surprised:  then once he saw what kinda cars they were he was like, Oh KOOOOOOOOOL! ;D
I have pics here of all of them but will only post the Pintos here. If anyone is interested I will sell all except for the red Pinto.
Thanks again, and have a good weekend everybody! :peace:

Funny you should ask this...
I'm going to be contacting the mfgr of these cars & see if I can get them mfgr some CHEVY LUV's ;D

There was a company called Yatming, made 1/64 scale Step-side Luv's back in the 80's, I have 3 of those trucks here, don't know much more about that company or what else they ever made. You might wanna check & see if they ever made any Pinto's back then... :search:

I'll keep you guys posted as to what might become of my idea for having some new LUV's  made.

Did anyone else take notice of the door speakers on the 1/24 scale?  and my steering wheel is glued on upside down too. anyone else notice the pinto emblem on the steering wheel is upside down?  I figured out what is funky about the hatch,  the guy who let them use his car for the model said he had the roof vinyl made and the seam came from the upholsterer not having a big enough piece to make it one piece, and the weird hatchline comes from the trim piece around the back of the vinyl roof.  it gives it a squarish line instead of a round one. and it is supposed to be a 74 whats with the small bumpers?

Can't we all just be thankfull that they even make these lil cars & not pick them all to pieces? I don't even own a real life scale Pinto but collected them years ago. I think the toy makers have done a great job!

Thank you very much Phils Toys,  knowing that the packaging is the same, will make it alot easier.  I guess I'm off to walmart again.  Surely one of the 5 gazillion wally worlds in PA will have one.  I also noticed that KB toys has the fresh cherries line, but the one I was in, only had the AMC stuff.  Thanx again.  I'll probably have to get 2 of them if i find them, I want to make one look like my dirt tracker.  I was going to use one of the 1/24th scale ones but I think one that moves would be even more "shiney" :police:

Well, I must give yall a report:
There is NO Remote control Pinto's to be found in any Walmart in the entire Texas panhandle (which , I know is bigger than most states..LOL!) Each Walmart I walked out of, I was like... :ih8u:  :nocool:
But...there are ALOT of the 1/24 scale cars, at least 10 in each store I've been in. ALL are red w/ white top. I bought ONE, sold it, now going to buy more. If any one else is interested just drop me a line here or at: lilbluechevyluv4x4@yahoo.com, thats my main email address.
I will slightly over charge what Wally wants for these cars because I do have to wrap the box in paper pay the shipping costs and....
That gold called gasoline.... :nocool:
to get to the P.O. and back, ya know.

I bought one of those "F.C." Pintos from Wal-Mart. I was initially interested in this "One Bad Ride" 64scale CHEVROLET S10 4X4 Heavy Duty, but as if some kind of force drew me in... as Madden would say... "BOOM!", there was these 64scale Pintos staring me right in the face, almost to say "Buy me". I wembled over the S10 or the Pinto for a few, and ultimately bought the Pinto. And now seeing you guys talkin` 'bout them, I feel I have to buy a few more. I DO really want to find the 24scale Pintos. I also want to find any replicas of the AMC Pacer. My grandmother had one and aside the transmission going out, I loved that car too. The "Bubbletop" cab forward design, the giant doors (My grandmother's favorite feature as well)... and so on. It was white with a graphics of a rose on the bonnet (Hood)...

Anyway, back on topic here, I think I will round up some more of those toy Pintos.

P.S. My first ever car I owned was a 1975 Ford Pinto. It was so rusted that every time I slammed the doors shut, parts of the bodywork fell off. But I loved that car more than life itself.

Man, just when i thought it was safe to go back into walmart.  These motormax people really want my paychecks.

I wanta model car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 of em, hell 500  i have so many ideas. now i wont be able to sleep at night again.  im going to have to build a new shelf just for the pinto toys ive got.  the cats all hate me since i picked up the remote control one.  Oh well.  I can find new cats anywhere, but the pinto stuff is hard to find. :D

We need to start sending motormax letters every week demanding a station wagon version. and suggest that the wagon version of the model comes with optional cruising wagon accessories.

My brain just locked up for 5 minutes.  "lowered version, 4x4 version, street rod version, stock version, tubbed version, etc etc."  someone hit me over the head   make it stop  make it stop.

I found a primered model, i need to get a couple more, i'll have to wait til they restock.
Has anyone seen the engine models they have?  They are made by revell, so far I have only seen the Ford 427 SOHC, the 327 fuel injected chevy, and the 350 chevy street rod motor.  I bought the 427,  it is really cool, there was over 100 pieces some of it goes together with screws some of it needs glued.  If anyone gets one use superglue to put it together cause half the pieces are plastic and half are diecast. I dont know what the difference is between the platings on this model and regular model cars but it was a pain in the butt to scrape the coatings off to make the glue stick better.  The detail was very good, and so was the quality.

THESE 1:87 SCALE. THEY ARE ONLY 2 INCHES LONG. OTHER THAN THE GAS
FILLER IN THE WRONG SPOT, THE DETAIL IS INCREDIBLY ACCURATE. NOW,
IF THEY WOULD MAKE ONE OF EVERY PINTO IN, LET'S SAY 1:24 SCALE. IT WOULD
SEEM THAT SOMEONE AT MOTOR-MAX DOES HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR OUR
FAVORITE LITTLE CAR. IT WOULD BE REALLY NEAT IF THEY WOULD RELEASE
THESE IN THE ORIGINAL PAINT SCHEME. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO SHOPPING.
