I need this steering piece. It bolts to the end of the steering column then connects to a piece going to the rack. I have parts for trade.
The rubber piece?(rag joint)
If thats the piece your looking for I used the small one that was found in autozones help section
Do you have a power or manual steering car?
it is manual
i am looking for the entire piece. in good condition, and with a good rag joint.
I might have one but I am pretty sure the rag joint will need to be replaced. The coupler that attaches to the rack differs between power and manual steering cars so you need to make sure you get one from a manual car or you will need to swap the end from you old one. Give me a couple days and I will get back to you.
i need one with a good rag joint, not power assist steering. have parts for trade. door glass, rear trunk model glass, many other parts.

is the rag joing the only problem with the one you have? and the rest of it in working order?
rag joint is the only bad part. Can I remove the rivets and replace them with bolts if I cut them off? And where can I find the rag joint material?

and yes, remove the rivets, I think you'll have to enlarge some holes for the new bolts but that is how we all fix this problem. Hope that helps ;D
yes, the rubber. do you have a part no. @ autozone?
I don't know the part #, it's a standard ford part but not an exact fit for the pinto, maybe take yours apart and bring with you. I do believe that you do have to drill/enlarge the holes for the bolts to fit, I have my mechanic fix for me and why I don't know exactly the mod needed to make it work but think I'm correct.
An exact fit/replacement is unavailable to my knowledge. Ask at the auto parts store, they should be able to help you if the employee has any experience.
O'Reilly's has these, it's one of those packages marked "HELP". It is a universal kit that has bolts instead of rivets, and WILL fit the Pinto driveshaft.
Americanpintobean: I bought one of these, but ended up not needing it. If you PM me, and send me your address, I will send it to you free of charge.
Let me know.
