Little more info, please.  Does the cable reach the carb, you just need a different connector?  Or do you need a whole new cable?  If the cable reaches, what does kind of fitting is on the end of the cable?

If all you need is a little ball for the cable to snap on to, go to www.summitracing.com and search this part no.:  hly-20-2

If all you need is the ball, just go down to NAPA/local parts store. It was only a few bucks for an assortment pack. If you know what size you need (ball diam & thread) they had a bunch individually also.

Unfortunately a ball is not the problem, hooking up the throttle to the carb is no big deal. As you probably know the factory carb linkage connection is in the front. The motorcraft is on the side. This causes the stock throttle cable to be about 4 -5 inches to long.By using the stock cable in stock form it would have a bend in it. I am looking for suggestions to change too,etc...

Make a longer ( arm) that bolts to the manifold and will extend the cable that 4" longer. Its kinda what I did to my clutch cable only in reverse.

Got it.  I'm actually not familiar with the stock setup; I bought my Pinto as a prepared race car and use dual Webers on the 2.0.

As long as the bend isn't sharp, there shouldn't be a problem.  Try routing it a couple different ways to take any sharp bends out of it.  As Turbopinto72 suggested, a custom bracket might be needed to hold it in the right spot.

If you have to go to a new cable, Summit and Jegs, and I'm sure many other places, stock universal cables made by Lokar (Try Summit part no. LOK-TC-1000U36 for a 36" cable).  That's what I have on my race car and it works fine.  The fittings are removeable so it should be easy to shorten it if you need to.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've decided to go the dirt track route, ie... two heims and a rod.
