I have been working on this car off and on for a year now and I got in a hurry. I managed to get the v8 and trans in the car without cutting the radiator support. But the radiator I have pretty much makes going any farther with the support intact impossible! So I cut it! Anybody have pics, ideas, or thoughts on fabing a new one around the radiator? Thanks
First off is the radiator rated for your V8? What rad are you using? I take, it you removed the hood latching assembly? I ask, because you will have to use a pusher fan on the front of the rad pushing thru, with no fan on the motor. It would be helpful if you showed some pictures of what you've done so far. It is also possible that you will need to mak a "Montcarlo bar"( mounted right behind where the support was weld to each fender) to tie the fenders back in. Without a solid rad support or the bar, your fender will move and shake at highway speeds.
I didn't cut my support, all I needed was a small cut out for the cap. I put the radiator on the other side and I have a regular fan, not electric.
I didnt cut mine either. I followed 71pintoracers advice and cut out for the cap and used a reg fan.
Mine is cut and bolted back in. The cap is covered by the support, but there's a second one on the upper hose. I'll try to post photos when I get home and I'm running a big electric fan on a thermostat.

What i did i put a 350 chevy in mine and moved the motor back 13 inches. the firewall is now at the window and the rad is were its supose to be. the cal is now a bolt on so it can be removed when you need to work on the dist.

Manuel72, I have the gaskets but next time use the classifieds for parts wanted as this has nothing to do with this post.
