Now I just learned that any '74 through '88 Ford 2.3L will interchange. And that means say a 1987 Ford Ranger 2.3L will directly bolt into a '77 pinto. No need to worry about frame mount/motor mounts. Now if that is true why can't a guy use a v8 Ranger swap kit to put a v8 in his Pinto? Now I'm sure you probably are going to have some issues like oil pan clearance or something along those lines. But this could be a start to a solid conversion right? So now I'm really curious to hear from the first thousand or so people that thought of this before I did of why it won't work, didn't work, and there solutions. ???

It will not "direct-bolt"; you will need to swap oil pans and deal with hood clearence.
Bill
The oil pan I expect and the hood not that big of deal but other than that all I want is a solid foundation to start with.

The 2.3 with EFI may have the T/B over the V/C. It takes modifing something somewhere to get the hood to shut (or just slam it a few times to make it a custom fit).
Bill
the ranger is shorter not the same as t/c
