I have a '73 Pinto. It's been a V-8 car since 1981 so it is pretty good shape. It currently has a 89 5.0l shortblock with AFR 185 heads, victor jr., and comp hydraulic roller cam XE282HR, C4, 8" rear with 4.11:1, mini spool. It runs 12.50's which isn't bad for a street car. So last week I bought a BDS 6-71 for it. ;D LOL. I hope to get it in by October so I can go to Years Ones Bristol Bash. Did anyone see that grey Pinto on e-bay last week with the 390 all under the hood. Sweet ride!

Hey what size rims and tires do you have? I am trying to get setup with big/littles and don't exactly know what fits. Right now I have 265-50x14's on the rear and I'm unsure of the backspacing (I think it's around 4-4.5"). I want to go with a 15" tire about 10" wide but don't know what squeezes under there. Also, I think I'm going with 15x4's up front. Is there a specific backspacing or is the 15x4 some "standard" backspacing?

On the rear tires, if your referring to slicks, the biggest you can get under there is a 26 x 8.5 x 15 on a 15 x 8 rim with no more than 4.250 back spacing, if you don't want to butcher up the wheel well openings. Also, make sure you have the rear suspenson stiffened up a bit, cause if yours squat's on the launch, the lip of the fender well will rub the slick. I found out the hard way. As for the skinnies, I run the Moroso DS-2's (25.0 x 4.5 x 15) on Centerline Autodrags. If you want to check them out, check this # on Jegs. For the rims, it's 184-055351442 and the DS-2's it's 710-17025.
Do you have 5 lug rotors on the front? I have a 73 and am wondering what to do about front wheels.

If your referring to my car, it has 4 lug up front, and 5 in the back. If your going to run it at the strip, If you run aluminum aftermarket wheels, they are going to require you to install the 3" long studs, and open ended lugs. They want to see the studs sticking out past the lugs. If you look at my previous post, and look up the part # for the Autodrags, you will get the correct wheel for the front, if you want to stay 4 lug.
Thanks, I really appreciate the information. I have the car ready for the motor (302 w/ 351 heads) and the trans (C6 w/ trans brake and 2800 stall). I' m glad I don't have to change the spindles.

What modifications did you do to get the C6 in there? Did you cut out the original tunnel and fabricate your own? I thought about going with the C6, but was told that the firewall and tunnel would have to be customized, and didn't want to sacrfice the regidity buy doing any cutting untill I could get a full frame under it. So I went with a built up C4.
The tunnel and firewall definitely have to be modified. I have a full cage to help with the strength of the body. I wouldn't have gone with a c6 except that I got a really good deal on it. I had planned on the C4 but the C6 cost me less than rebuilding the C4.
