tranny swap

ok i'm building a 79 bobcatwith a at trannyi I was going to put a 4 spd in it out of a 76 and junk the 76. would there be      a ny cuting the floor board's or anything along those lines that would hurt the carpet?? thank's ps  i'm thinking the shifter will go right in the old shifter hole

I think everything will work but you night not have the 4 screw inserts on the trans hump at the corners of the shifter hole to screw on the shifter boot.??????
