flywheel thickness?
« on: February 03, 2005, 07:54:24 AM »
I have purchased a mustang ministock race car(85) with a 4 speed german trans.  It has what looks like a 3 paddle racing clutch 7.5 inch 23 spline, probably from esslinger in it that is bad.  I want to replace it with a normal clutch .  The flywheel in the racecar is steel but it is approx half the width of a normal mustang with a t5 trans. Im guessing that the flywheel is also aftermarket from possibly esslinger also. Is anyone familiar with the early pinto flywheels like possibly from a 1.6 motor.  Could this flywheel be from something stock like this.  The throwout bearing is aprox twice as long as a stock mustang clutch setup.  Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to figure out what the parts are in this car. thanx.  wnk.

Its probably a lightened steel unit. It would not be from a 1.6 engine.
