I hate to put a knife to original door panels. So what to do when you want something better than factory AM radio with one speaker in the center of the dash?
FRONT- I took out the windshield, and cut holes in both right and left of the top of the dash to fit two speaker grills from a 70s Chrysler Newport, after painting them to match. Only will take 3.5" speakers, and have to use bass-blockers so they won't blow out. with low frequencies.
REAR- Cut holes a long time ago in my plastic side panels in the back seat. 6X9 Speakers facing each other really did not project sound well to the driver. Bought a new pair that had tweeters I could angle toward the front. We will see if that works.
STILL do't get enough bass! Anyone figure out how to mount woofers under the seats? Really don't want to sacrifice rear space in my Runabout for a huge bass enclosure.
Anyone have better ideas on how/where to mount speakers?
How about mixing right and left up front to route to a large speaker in the original AM radio dash speaker location?
The goal is to have a Pinto that looks original as possible.
