Vacuum switches / replacements
« on: June 02, 2017, 10:38:51 AM »
hey guys

so I'm replacing my water outlet at the top of the engine on my 2.8 and there are three vacuum switches, has anyone replaced these before? I keep looking up the part numbers on the switches and cant find anything, I went into rockauto and there are a handful of switches, and they all come in different colors and it seems like the colors indicate something? blue / brown / yellow / green, I cant figure out what color these switches were originally, does anyone know if the colors really matter? does anyone have any knowledge on this? I'm a cali smog car so I need to get these working properly..

vacuum switches part numbers are D5VE-AA (3 port), D5CE-A2A (2 port), D5ZE-A2A (2 port), the three port has its ports labeled "1" "D" "2" and both two ports have their ports labeled "e" "s" does anyone know what those stand for? I'm totally lost guys

The vac switches are for emissions equipment, one of them ties to the distributor and if the engine runs hot it pulls vacuum to the advance side and speeds up the engine to help cool it down , but I just removed the whole mess and plugged the housing and removed the rest , egr was plugged up for years , smog pump was frozen when I got the car , air pump lines to the head were rusted out ,lucky I live in a state that does not do emissions testing ,
