Looking to replace the tired slider cam with a Ranger Roller. At the Junk yard to get the Cam out of the ranger I ended up having to undo the tranny cross member and let the transmission/back of engine sag down to the ground to get the engine to tilt back far enough to extract the cam and get it to clear the upper rad support. On the pinto what is the best way to raise up the front of the engine to get the cam to clear the rad support? I see two options:
Undo the trans cross member and lean everything back
undo the motor mounts and use a block of wood and jack under the oil pan and raise the front of the motor
The 79 has a C3 Trans so I also have cooling lines to worry about and i'd rather not bend, break, or disconnect them if that can be avoided.
Any other tips or tricks for performing the cam swap? has anyone who has done the swap noticed an increase in down low torque after replacing the slider?
Thanks!
Dave
