Supposedly it is doable, but I am wondering what it really looks like.

Mainly will the 74 fenders/hood flow with the 79?

I.E. if it would look tacked on I won't even consider it. I don't know how much if any the main body changed over the years.

Not even sure why I am thinking about it, other than I have a 74 that I could use parts from and I always seem to come up with crazy ideas. There is just something about stock that bothers me I guess.  ::)

When I was a kid in the 60's building models, I would take a wood burner (soldering iron type thing) and melt parts from several cars together. I guess that kid is still inside.  :o

Thanks,
Russ

The main body (doors, quarter panels, etc.) remained the same throughout the Pinto's run.  There were some changes to the rear hatch on Runabouts and the taillights and bumpers evolved with time.  Most people don't know enough about Pintos to notice any of that anyway.  As far as body lines, the fenders and hood will line up fine with the rest of the body.

Cool.
Thanks.
Not sure if I will even try, but since I have the parts (mostly) it's something to keep in the back of my mind.
Although I'd really like a fiberglass one piece tilt front end. I could make a tilt out of the steel using either year.
The car is so close to everything I have always wanted to do I might as well go for the whole thing.

Just for anyone else who may come along, I was reading more threads here looking for stuff, and came across a similar question from over a year ago with this link.
I think it answers the question pretty nicely. It even reminds me of my soon to be mine 79, but mine has a full cage. And does not have paint at the moment.
