Coil and leaf spring options for a 74 V8 sedan?
« on: May 31, 2014, 10:10:04 AM »
im not too clear on the coil spring options that involve Mustang II coils. Are they a direct fit for 74 and later? Hear everyone talking about cutting coils, is that necessary or just to achieve a lower stance?
What leaf spring sources are available? I see the Speedway listings, assume ESPO might be another choice?
is there a reason Lakewood traction bars are spec'ed as 71-73 and not beyond?
thanks for your help here!

thank you! coincidentally, I think that is exactly the search I looked at before posting!
Seeing the various offerings from Speedway Motors and so forth, and recalling some mentions of coil cutting on Mustang II coils for Pintos, I was hoping someone could explain the fine points of those parts and modifications, necessary and otherwise.
thanks for responding, those are some neat cars you have!

Mll springs are 7 coils (if I remember right).
My 72 cars original coils have 5 1/2 coils (I think).

I put Mll springs in the white car (BOSS 302) and think they may be too stiff. They were for an Mll with 302 & AC.
I may cut another 1/4 coil off , or get weaker ones.
