AOD tranny in a Pinto
« on: September 25, 2004, 12:45:23 AM »
Will an AOD 4spd auto fit in a Pinto? I'm looking for a good highway combo. I'm already planning the ranger roller cam swap & adding a header of some sort. What I'm looking for is snappy acceleration without turning 3500RPM @ 70mph on the interstate. for this I need an overdrive.
As my car is already an auto I was thinking an 85-88 4cyl AOD tranny would be the way to go, because it's still a "dumb" tranny(except for the lockup torque converter)

Anyone try this? Will it even fit in the already tight tunnel?

doable, but if your going to be laying down some power with your engine, a performace rebuild will NEED to be done=  $$$$

nah I'm gonna be making around 130-140hp just enough to make it fun, not dangerous. I've had fast cars& they're a blast, but with a 35 mile trip to work I need reliable first. (yes I drive 70 mi/day)
