AOD installed!
« on: September 21, 2006, 07:15:43 PM »
Just finishing up the install of my AOD tranny, this is gonna take some time to get used to. It shifts way different than the C4. I wans't sure what to expect, thought maybe the response of a C4 with a 4th gear...I sure was wrong. It's very slow to shift and usually goes into OD too soon. Gonna try a TransGo HP shift kit, but would like any advice from a Trans Tech.

Is the TV cable adjusted properly? It sounds like it's not to me. Be very careful driving the car if you didn't get the TV adjusted because it will burn out that tranny in short order by letting it slip. My 1991 Crown Vic Police Car shifted very hard and fast so I know that the tranny normally shifts firm.

Later,
Joe

The TV cable was adjusted by a local tranny shop, they have the gauge and experience. But they haven't done much with shift kits in the older AOD trans.

The problem turned out to be the Lokar TV cable, the spring on the tranny side was too weak. Replaced it and she shifts nice now. Took a road trip last weekend, cruised at 80mph running 2200rpm.

Please please PLEASE tell me this is behind a 2300, not some honkin V8. If it's in a 2300, we need DETAILS man!! LOL I'm considering an AOD behind my 2.3 for fuel economy/more top end mph. (stock 5500rpm in high gear = 93mph)
