What's the widest 15" wheel that will fit on the front of a Pinto?

I picked up some 5/16" spacers and going to get some 15x7 rims.

I think that you can only fit 4" of backspace on the front wheels of a pinto with stock brakes. I have a set of six inch wide wheels with 4" back space and a set of eight inch wide wheels with 4" bs. Both work fine, maximum width is determined by how far you want your wheels to stick out from the car. 8" is still under the fenders.

Universal bolt pattern, 4x4.25 anf 4x4.5

about $23 total.

Don't the 71-73 vehicles require a different offset than the 74-80 vehicles. My 73 hatchback has 15x7 Centerlines ( I don't remember what the backspacing is). They fit fine and do not rub with the plastic liners removed. However these wheels do not fit my 79 wagon without rubbing.

Bricker, what year car are you running the 8's on?

I'm getting some magnum 500's for my pinto...at least i am going to unless anyone knows of a problem. the fronts will be 15X7 with 4 1/4" back spacing, the back 15X8 with 4 1/2" back space. Will they fit on my 71? and is there any chance of 15X10's with 5 1/2" backpsacing fitting on the back without heavy mods? i imagine they would hit the e brake cable and inner fender...any help would be appreciated. thanks.

15x10 with 5 1/2 will not work. First, the back spacing to too big, your wheel will be rubbing on the spring, not to mention there is no room for the tire. Then, once you get the 1 inch spacers you need the wheel will be hanging out too far, and unless you intend to raise up the car and hang the tire outside the fender this combo will not work ( on a stock car) however it would work if you tubbed the car and shortened the rearend.

I recommend not using spacers if you can help it. I dont think they would pass tech inspection if you race either. You're certainly putting more stress on the lugs and bearings.

MR GASKET sells both 1/4" and 5/16" thick four lug spacers. Their on the internet.

Where are you guys getting your custom wheels at? The tire shops in my town just keep telling me to go to the junkyard. I guess they don't want my money!!!!

I'm using 15x8's from a 86 saleen on my RALLYE with out using spacers.I'm also using 225/50/15 tires.

I just bought a nice '80 Bobcat... I think I'd like to do the Granada Front disk swap, which if understand correctly moves the wheel outwards 3/4" per side. Then use a 86-93 Mustang 8.8 modified for leaf spring setup. The 8.8 is 2" wider than the Pinto rear, or a inch per side. With the extra width I'm hoping that I can get 17x8 Bullitt wheels with 245/40/17 tires to fit under the Bobcat.

I know I need to nail down all my measurements first... but does that sound reasonable?

I run 8" in the back without a problem. I think i'm a fuzz over stock width.
It all depends on your back space. I think I've got 4" now, but there's room for 5".
With the additional width from the 8.8, you should fit more than that.
