2.0 Freeze plugs question and intro

Hello, this is my first post. My name is Dan and I have a '72 2.0 Pinto motor in a '28 Ford Tudor. I'm planning to keep the motor and hop it up a little bit, but first I need to do some repairs. I'm replacing the freeze plugs and I'm only finding 3 (2 on the exhaust side and 1 on the back of the head) all the same size. Is there any other plugs inside the bellhousing area?, I would rather not pull the motor out if there's none in there. Also where is the block drain plug for coolant or is there one?, the P/O used water and things are pretty rusty inside and I need the lowest hole to flush out the block.

Welcome aboard.  There is a large freeze plug on the back of the block.  The lowest coolant drain point on the block appears to be the temperature sender hole on the passenger side near the back.  I did not find a dedicated drain port.
 
You might want to check with a radiator shop to see if there is a way to clean out the rust before freeze plug replacement.  Just concerned the cleaner may damage the new freeze plugs.  I have used pool acid to clean the water jacket, which will remove the galvanizing from the freeze plugs (this was on a stripped bare block).  Have fun.

Thanks Jerry, It looks like the motor has to come out. It's not really bad inside, I was going to use the garden hose to get all the brown water out and hope fresh coolant will keep it from getting worse. Either that or I'll run some rusty coolant cleaner I bought, you run it with water for 6 hours and drain. I would have done it before I took it apart but the old radiator leaked so bad it was all over the motor and firewall.
