1600 Timing Marks?
« on: October 21, 2009, 03:43:46 PM »
Hello, new to the forum, glad I found this place.

I am putting together a 1600 engine out of my brothers 73 pinto, but I have not been able to find a diagram showing the correct alignment of the timing gears.  Can anyone post a pic out of a manual?  It would be much appreciated.

If anyone could just tell me which way the marks are suppose to align for sure that would be great.  I know most times you point the marks straight at each other, but I have put together other motors that did not hold true to that.

Well I have a Chiltons book from years 70-73 and I've been working on a 1973 ford pinto wagon only mine engine is 2000cc and it does show a diagram I believe for 1600cc..I'd have to check though!

My '71 Ford service manual shows them pointing at each other.  :)
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?
