Vacuum Advance Unit
« on: March 27, 2018, 11:58:16 AM »
I am looking to replace this 46 year old vacuum advance unit. It still seems to work.  I have a '72 Pinto sedan with 26 K original miles.  2.0 engine , auto trans.  Any body know where to get one ?  I have converted the ignition to a Pertronix 2 system.  Thanx for your help .. Jerry...
1972 Pinto sedan, 27 K actual miles.  All original.

Need a little more information. Is it advance only or does it also have the retard built in? Dist number probably would help. Ebay shows quite a listing but you would need to have your correct part number to know what you were getting. NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly, or any of the other big name parts stores probably can still get it for you. Also most Ford advances you could adjust the number of degrees they move with an allen wrench going inside the nipple to access the adjust point. So you probably could use one off a different dist if you can not find the exact one and still make it work. If yours is still working I am not sure I would worry to much about it until it fails.
