Title: V6 Headers and V6 4 speed application
Post by: Stubby350 on October 19, 2013, 01:50:38 PM
Was reading down into the archives and came across posts for V6 Headers... You could get headers for a Mid eighties V6 Ranger or Bronco II. Also there was mention of taking a complete 4 spd setup from a Mustang II and putting it into a pinto with a V6-Just make sure that your bell housing for the transmission has the same clutch throw as the Pinto... I tried this setup back in the 90's with a 74 Mustang II bell housing and the throw arm locks against the lower firewall. Didn't work and wasn't willing to cut the floor.  This can be solved by getting a bellhousing from a 79 Mustang with V6 and 4 speed. This has the clutch throw the same as a 4 cyl pinto bellhousing and would allow you to use the pinto cable and add it to your V6 with very little modification and not cut into the floor...

Just noticed you post , been off for some time, also got a V-6 pinto and know the headers are hard to come by, tried the bronco/ranger headers but they will not fit, got a set of rare mustang headers and they will not fit , and after two years of look got a set of pinto headers off of e-bay, paided though the nose for those , also thought about the T-4/T-5 set up but wife does not know how to use a standard trans, and did not want to grind the gears and burn up clutches teaching her, so I put in a A4LD ,

One other thing I plan to try is a set of Aerostar tubes for the 2.8. I have a set of headers that I plan to put on my V6 when I reinstall. (hoping for install by first of the year. I am also building a second V6 for my second Cruiser. I plan to build for about 210HP and install a 4 speed in that one. I don't plan to race or anything, just want to have an extremely fun and responsive driver when I'm done. I'm glad you got your headers... I'm assuming from the last Ebay listing I saw recently. Let me know how your build goes... Cheers and Merry CHRISTmas!
