I just drug home another Pinto. This one is a 72 & it makes the 5th project car I'm trying to assemble at the same time. Only this car & the 71 half hatch are mine though. The 73 is going to be my stepson's 1st car, the wagon will be my daughters & the 80 hatch is my sons.

It was only an hour away from my house & the previous owner had passed away recently leaving several project Fords in the garage. Apparently his plan was to make a full time race car out of it.

I can't determine if it ever had a V8 in it prior or if it was on it's way. I do know the frame was never tied & the body & floors are spotless for an Ohio car.

The dash pad is an 8 out of 10 & the sport wheel already found it's way onto my stepson's 73. The auto shifter & pedal will go in it next since I'm installing a T5 behind my 302.

The previous owner cleaned & painted most of the underside saving me a ton of work.

The steering rack was moved & I don't think it will clear my Milodon oil pan so I'm planning to install a late model rack.

It's amazing what a good cleaning can do to make a project look better.

I hung a good door & some clean fenders I had on it & brushed some Rust-oleum on the bare steel.

I decided to use those doors on the 73 so I put the doors Fred sent me 4 years ago on it. These are the doors that I'll run on it anyhow.

I have almost everything I need to assemble this car but it will be on the back burner until I find the time. The 73 is a priority & my wagon engine still needs swapped sooner than later.

Drum brakes on the front ?
Reason I ask, the brake line bracket sticks out a ways like on my blue parts car, which has drum brakes.

It has disc's on it & the pedal pad has the disc logo. That doesn't mean they weren't swapped on at some point though.

After 4+ years I finally have my tarantula headers for my V8 install. Now I just need the time to put this car together.

After 5+ years digging up Center Line Champ 500 wheels I finally have a complete set for this car. A pair of 15x4 fronts & 15x8-1/2 rears in Ford bolt pattern. This is one of the few deviations I plan to make from the car I saw every day as a child. The car I'm modeling this one after had slots but my 71 is already going to have aftermarket 14" slots & I love these wheels more.

I'm still searching for a builder around me. I've checked 2 places & neither will do headers unless it's for their own car.
That said, if anyone knows a shop that makes headers within a couple hundred miles of Youngstown Ohio give me a shout out.

I know of a guy in portland oregon. I even have access to an oven big enough to ceramic coat them. Too bad your so far from the pacific.

I can't find a local source to build them. I've called every shop that claims to do racing fab work & nobody will touch them unless I'm willing to spend $800 or more. I could make a set myself using a generic tubing kit from Summit for less than half that. People are on drugs nowadays.

Still cheaper than Canada.
One guy I have lined up for my B2 headers says he can do them for 1500. Before ceramic coating.
Another says customs start at 2500.
I have thought about the ones you have. With pictures, a good builder should be able to make a set, providing he can work with the car as well.

Once I reach the assembly phase on this car I may build my own set. First I want to see how well these fit since I plan to move the engine back & down as far as the Milodon oil pan permits. It wont be huge changes but I think I can go down an inch & possibly two inches to the rear. I'm not crazy about the coating job on these & if I have to re-do them I may as well build a fresh set.

Will still work. Nice thing about the design.
