My father is about to get into the Pinto scene. I have a couple of questions. Will the 3.8L v6 & AODX from his T-Bird fit in a 74-77 Pinto? If so what will I need to scavange from the T-Bird to make the Pinto go again? I am about to dive in to this whole fuel inj. thing feet first I just don't want to sink up to my a** and ruin both cars trying to build him a cool little ride. I know I need the MAP, MAF, EMC that's all I know

you will need all the sensors, wiring (engine) loom. You will likely have to make up motormounts and you'll need a front sump oil pan if its a rear sump(along with pick up) I'm not sure if they made the 3.8 with a front sump, but you could search around or make one up. You will need high pressure fuel line, one for delivery and one for return along with a good inline fuel pump (high pressure) For exhaust..... not sure on that you could try the factory manifolds to see if they are close, otherwise get a pair of aftermarket headers and see if you could "make" them work.  Worst case....custom headers. Personally, i like the idea of the 3.8 SC motor in the pinto, i wanted to do that to my father inlaws '78 coupe. This is just a first thought reply...i'm sure i'll think of other things later.

I've always thought of doing that. I just have too many cars right now. If you have the whole super coupe, then things will be easier for you. Does the pinto already have a v6? About the best thing I can tell you is, don't over look the fuel system. Make sure that that motor gets plenty of fuel.

I was looking into just that the other day!. I know where there's a T-bird SC that's been rolled.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of bolt-on parts for that motor tho  :( I would've guessed there would have been with it having been the basis for a NASCAR motor. most of the T-bird guys have like a K&N filter , maybe a hi volume fuel pump. i can't remember what the SC made out of the box (200+HP?)

You need the WHOLE wiring harness and an EXCELLENT wiring diagram. you need to know where EVERY wire goes. (remember some wires are MEASURED resistance so don't cut the harness unless you HAVE to) I ran into that with a 5.0 swap into a '74 mustangII. *holding head* what a headache. but for a T-bird sc motor I'd do it again  ;D

Well it's a done deal. My father has decided that a 74 Pinto Runabout is about to get a serious upgrade to the 3.8l superchared T-Bird motor. Now comes the fun part I have to cut the oil pan bottom off and basically turn it 180. I'm not even going into motor mounts yet, that's the least of my worries. I gotta figure out how to make 4 miles of wire and computers fit under its new dash
