Mirror upgrade #2

I'm trying to graft Mazda MX-5 electric mirrors onto Wee Beastie. Did I tell you that I hate white knuckle lane changes on I-80, I-480, and I-680 in a car that's 2/3 blind spot? Plus the old vintage sport mirror droops and won't hold adjustment. The joystick is from a Ford Contour. The fit between the pigtail and the window glass is a little close. I'm now in the middle of grinding the mirror base down to match the contour of the Pinto door.

LOOK CLOSE TO THE SPORT MIRROR LOOK, IM SURE AT FIRST GLANCE I WONT HAVE EVEN NOTICED THAT THEY NOT SPORT MIRRORS!!!

Here's the requested side view. As you can see the Pinto needs a lot of work. I'm split between whether or not the mirrors are too round to be authentic '70s style versus that a lot of roundish Panapets and Panton sold during the '70s.

It mostly depends on what you're going for with the Pinto.  As long as you're not aiming for a stock look, I'd stick with the Mazda mirrors for safety reasons.  My '72 is bone stock and I'm not about to swap out my sport mirrors, but they are so small I feel like I'm taking my life in my hands every time I change lanes!

I think they look good from the side. Once they are body color they should blend right in.
