Quick Disconnect Nitrous Bottle Mount
« on: December 08, 2012, 06:57:04 PM »
So I'm putting a blue bottle (10 lb) in the back of my '72 V8 hatch and there are too many things in the way...mainly the gas tank and rollcage to put it where I had initially planned, so I'm looking at alternatives.  The clever one (I think, anyway...) that I've come up with is this: a removable platform which attaches to the rollcage.  I've got two bars in the "cargo"area which run across the body and which are 25" center to center, and the aluminum plate platform would attach to the rollcage bars with 4 of these clamps:

the clamps have a combined capacity of 220 lbs which should easily handle any loads that bottle could possible see. The means the entire setup...bottle, mounts and all, can be removed in seconds with no tell-tale holes left behind. So....what do you think?  Will it work or is it just a terrible idea?

Aerodynamics is for those who can't build engines

If ford pintos are not fast then why chevy's have to use there parts to make them fast?

Aaaaaand the project is stalled. One of the aluminum roller rockers in the 289 broke completely in half at the trunnion.  Fortunately, the pushrod didn't bend, the break is clean with no missing material and the bearings are intact, so no needles went through the oil pump or anywhere ense. So, slight pause while I replace the set...
