Putting Pony wheels on Pito Pony

These are off of a 91 GT Mustang, 16X7 205/55X16 tires.

Should I paint them white?

They basically bolt on with just a slight rub behind the front wheels(it's a plastic panel)when wheels are turned all the way.

I have chrome Ponies on my wagon and I have 225's on the front and 245's on the rear. They ALMOST don't fit!   BIG BILL

Grumpy, if you use a 1/2" spacer no more rubbing you can get away with a 3/8" but 1/2" works best, yes you have to use longer studs but it is worth it. You can run a 225/55r16 with the 1/2" spacer

Man, those do look nice. I have a set of Escort GT wheels. Bolt pattern is right, but the center hole is too small. I could ream off the inner lip of the center hole, but I think im going to get rid of them and go a different route. I would nt mind a set of these now! Looks good Grumpy. Kenny

I think they look perfect the way they are. Dont paint them. Nice Fit!
I always toyed with th idea of some mustang wheels. But in the end i love my Centerlines.
Id also go with the spacers and longer studs as suggested. The rubbing will get annoying after a while LOL!

The rubbing is the outside rear corner of the tire touching the fiber panel in the rear of the front wheel well, very minor. Spacing would make that worse, I think. The back could use a little spacing out, the inside lip of the fender is almost three inches away, while the inside of the tire clears the spring by about an inch. I will have to get at least two five bolt wheels when I put in the IRS, I've seen a company on line that makes Ponies in 17 inch and modern offset(the IRS is from a 2003 Cobra Mustang).

Found another good Rover, a 4.0, cheap. I'm trying to get everything together to put a T5 in it. Though I may not start until after Carllyle.

Well, I like the Gray look myself.

I have seen your ride. I just hope you didn't pay what he wanted for it. Great car, I was suprised as to the condition it was in. I have a 79 that is the same color paint, That I am going to fix for the wife.

I paid about twice what it cost new. I had known of it's existence for 30 years and tried to get it. But when Mrs. Williams died I was in the midst of hip replacement and I had to wait a year to buy it. Just 6446 miles on the OD. I've got 11,000 on it now.

Grumpy. I just traded my T5 for a set of Ponies. They have brand new Cooper Cobra 215/55/16 on them. I hope that the little bigger size isnt a problem. Ill find out when i get the Pinto out later in the week. I tried to post a pic of one, but some thing says my file is too big....... :)

Are any of your cars lowered?  I want to upgrade to either 16" or 17" wheels but my car has been lowered.  I am going to upgrade to drop spindles, but it's still a 2" drop.  Any pics of cars with big wheels set down low???
Bought brand new by my Dad, 36yr OLD STOCK WAGON.  CAME AS YOU SEE IT, soon to have some bolt on goodies.

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead but, my wagon is lowered 2" with spindels and 225's rub real hard in front. Ended up going 205/55 front and 225/60 rear. Rear could use a spacer for sure but overall I like it.

I just put 205/50 16 Hankook V2s on my front end and I'm in love with my new tires. They turn like a laser, track EXACTLY where I point them, don't squeal when leaned on and even stick better than my back ones in the wet. And no more rub! It's a go-kart out on US 28!

US 28! Are you talking about the Moonshiners 28?I had to sneak onto 28 a couple of years back. The wife refused to ride on it. So when I caught her napping, I jumped on it. She woke up and I played dumb. We were on our way to the Cherolaha Skyway in the Pinto. I almost got away with it until the lady at the motel told her. I had to pay $75 fer a dang purse to get out of the dog house. She refuse's to go on the Tail of the Dragon with me. I wonder how much that one will cost me.

Go Ford, Go Fast Or Go Home!

[/size]I don't usually go much further than Deal's Gap. I go out on the Hellbender, not US 129, though I sometimes come back that way(through Robinsville). I spend more time on the section between Almond and Franklin. I have no suggestions about appeasing the wife, though. You're on your own there!
