Title: Project Stiletto
Post by: pintoman on June 28, 2012, 08:13:38 PM
On Tuesday I removed all the sheet metal from the Front of the Rallye. This is so I can install the Stiletto kit.It took about 2 hours to remove everything.Las t night with help from a good friend,we installed the Stiletto front end.I have it bolted down for now and I need to do some minor adjusting to get to fit right.I am trying to get some pictures downloaded. My pc is fighting me on that issue.

My bad. I thought it might be the one he was selling because he lived in Rittman & it was fairly close to you.

I'll second that. I got my Rallye spoilers from him in May. I assume his name is Tony from his Ebay screen name. That was a nice kit. Can't wait to see it installed.....

I'm curios to see how it's going to look too. How hard is it going to be to get the head light system to work??

I have the front end installed on the Rallye.I just have to make some minor adjustments.Pr ogress is slow but it is coming together.

I have most everything lined up.Spent most of the day filling in minor imperfections and sanding the front end.I am still trying to decide on what I want to do to the head light doors.I have the doors but not the hardware to install them with.

Pintoman, maybe you could get actuators off of an old RX7. They where flip up if I remember right?? Just a thought.

Looking good!!!

Or the entire mechanism off a firebird headlights and all would prolly work great.

Probably easier to find. Didn't think about the FireBird.

Harley, let me first say, that is looking great!
Second, bummer about the light hardware. But, if the other suggestions don't work, maybe getting a lucite lens and forget the retracting light for an all original take on the Stiletto. Just a thought, if done right it would be cool, maybe the lights off a 240z for a backing and a custom lucite cover on the lens.

Harley,  Not to give you more work, but looking at the pictures.  I am thinking, maybe removing the rear bumper and glassing it to a nice rounded sports car look to match the front might be cool.  Did I mention I am so jealous of your car right now?

I removed the headlight lights that came with the Front end. They sat back to far and the light would reflect inside the front end.I put in small rectangular headlights in the grill area. Will take pictures tomorrow and try and get them posted.I will install the headlight doors and mold them in.

Cannot wait to see that car!  You will be coming to carlisle next year, right?  Otherwise how are you gonna pickup that first place trophy?  The Rallye Stilleto!
Any ideas on paint?  Or are you keeping it the same color scheme?

I DONT UNDERSTAND swapping out the front of a pinto its the best bit, now if it were a kit to make the rear end more attractive i could see the point,  ;) :) :)

I for one cannot wait to see it done. It is as unique as a Pinto can be. The Stilleto kit is rare and so far I for one like the look.

Spent the last two days installing a new aluminum radiator in the Stiletto. The stock radiator was old and could not handle the heat. The Stiletto front end was restricting the air flow.So I went for a new radiator. Also I glued the head light doors into place along with installing a 2 inch cowl induction hood. Here is a couple of pic's from today.

Harley, I like the lights in the opening in the front. Looks really good. So you are gonna fill in and sand the light cowle into the body, nice. The scoop, I will have to see done. Louise loves it. I will wait to see it painted.
On another note, Rick Markko was fired from Carlisle Events. He won't be there next year. It will be interesting to see how next years show is.

Harley,

Good to see that your back at it again with your amazing car. I'm very interested in the vintage air set up for sure. Description and install tips will be much appreciated. I'm needing a couple A/C set ups for my cars for sure.

Do you still have the parts we discussed way back.

I'm going to be heading to Idaho to pick up my ultimate Pinto in or around March or April. Maybe I can put a peg in the map and swing by your place and pick up the parts we discussed.

Looking forward to the pics.

I now have to repaint the Stiletto.I was installing the new condencer for the air,I had a battery drill in my hand. When I got up to get some screws the drill came apart and hit the front fender. The drill comes apart for other attachments.I put every thing away and quit for the day.I was to mad to do any more work[damage].I'll work on it next weekend.
