Title: posi 3.55 or 4.11 for a 6.75 rear.
Post by: americanpintobean on September 01, 2011, 06:32:56 PM
Can anyone help me out with this?  I am looking for a posi for the 6.75 with 3.55 or 4.11 ratio.   I just need the gearing to put in the one I have, which is non locking 3.08 ratio in a 6.75.

I don't know for sure, but I think you will have a hard time finding anything other than stock gears for the 6.75 as there is no practical reason to do any kind of performance rebuild to such a small weak rear.

The 6.75 traction lock was only offered, I believe, as a dealer installed option on the mustangii. Read an article about it in CarCraft years ago. Hence, I doubt too many are out there.  They do pop up though as I happen to have an NOS one. I also ran across a set of NOS Schieffer 3.70 gears. I haven't seen any 4.11s since Midwest Auto advertised them back in the early 80s. Good luck with your search. JT

There was a traction lock 6.75 carrier on ebay last year or early this year (I can't remember), but it was going for about $700.

Been a little busy this week. Will try to dig out that article this weekend. Like Dave said: you want these kind of parts...be prepared to bump off some major cash! bump!

Just wondering what you are going to use it for? I mean does it need to be streetable? The 3:55 gears are not that hard to find and I welded the spiders and used these rears because of the light weight in my dirt cars, I broke an axle here and there but never a rear.
