Polishing chrome?
« on: November 28, 2014, 01:04:17 PM »
My chrome bumpers polish up nicely with just a turtle wax chrome polish product. The trim around the windshield and windows does not. Is this trim aluminum? Stainless steel? Is there anything to bring back the shine to this trim?

I believe it's anodized aluminum & has a coating on it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

Its the same as 77/80 Pinto aluminum  bumpers.  Clear anodized with an unknown clear coat. You might be able to strip the clear coat off with paint remover but NO NOT use oven cleaner as it will eat the anodize up.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

I think that you're right that the trim is anodized aluminum. I looked at several videos on Youtube on how to clean and polish this type of trim. Looks like a big job ... and a lot of trim.
