To all: Really need some clarification on which frame mounts needed to be used for this swap. I bought some MII V8 frame mounts and motor mounts. The frame mounts for the MII only have two bolts that can be used to bolt to the frame. The other two have 90 degree bends which you cannot use. On my 74 wagon with the 2.3 liter the mounts are flat and are held by four bolts. Am I supposed to use the 4 cylinder frame mounts with the MII V8 motor mounts. Also am I only supposed to move the drivers side motor mount back 1 inch and leave the passenger side alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Don ;D

If I were you I'd bolt all the mounts to the engine & put in place where it's going to work for this. Mark them , remove engine & weld frame mounts in.
I'd also make my own frame mounts.

NOTE , the Mll mounts will off set the engine to one side, Make sure what ever exhaust you plan to use are on the engine to allow clearance for them.

I took a look on Google Images to try and see the frame mounts on an actual Mustang II, but all I found was the mount itself. I would assume there is some logic that when Ford changed the inner parts of the Pinto to the Mustang II configuration in '74 the frame/engine mounting point was common and any alterations needed with different engines were done in the mounts themselves. When you set the frame mounts in place (less the lower bolts) do they sit in a way that they align with the two upper horizontal holes?  If so, I'd think that that would be sufficient for mock up. The angle of the mount would have the engine applying pressure downward and outward and I can't see the frame mount moving. That way you can check proper clearance at the firewall and the oil pan.

I found this statement from this post:  http://www.fordpinto.com/index.php?topic=1568.0
"They are from a '77 Mustang II 302, and they are pricey if you can find them at all. You also need the frame mounts from the Mustang IIĀ  OR you can use the Pinto 4 banger ones and modify the left one by relocating it back 1 full inch from centre of hole to centre." This seems to support my supposition that the engine adaptation is in the frame mount and not the frame itself.

This site has pictures showing the V8 mounts (I think) in the Pinto: http://www.cookieboystoys.com/friends/norm.htm

This was 10 minutes of looking on Google. I'm sure there is more info out there.
