Title: Pics of a ported head Dave Vizard style
Post by: fast64ranchero on March 31, 2012, 08:06:17 PM
Got the head back from the porters, the whole thing has been a pain, everything fought me, well it turned out nice and should run very strong, this head is a 200hp head with more compression and a larger cam then I'll be running, but I'm still hoping for good numbers from a street driven car.

smoothed and valves unshrouded

above pic shows the intake port filled and reshaped, doing this increase's flow over 10%

Another pic of the epoxy filled intake runner, this is about 1/4" thick, and really helps flow, the intake port on these little 2.0 EAO engines are too big from the factory,

above picture of the dog leg exhaust port.
valves are Ferrea 1.75" intake and 1.5 Exh. bronze guides, spring pockets cut for Burton Power dual springs, Crower stage 4 cam.
Bottom end is built and ready for this jewel, Hypernetectic (spelling) stock rods lightened, polished and ballanced, stock crank reground and ballanced.

Very nice! I'm thinking of porting my semi stock 2.3 in my 78 just to see what kind of gains I might get. All I have is a roller cam setup from a 91 mustang and cylinders bored out to .030 over, no smog equipment but the smog pump on it (still passes).

This setup will be temp. installed into my 72 to be broken in and power tuned, after that it will be delivered to a member on this site for his project, this will also give me time to figure out what to do with that Cosworth setup it have...

Ranchero,

The headers for the Cosworth should be here this week.  I'm tracking them now.  Last known location was NY on April 1st.  They'd cleared customs and were released to the delivery carrier (US Post Office, I think).

I'm hoping they'll be here today, actually.  Hey, it could happen!

I'll let you know if they fit right in with no mods.

Paul

Paul, the UK likes to use DHL, and they deliver fast, hope you get them soon.  I've been looking the a 2.3 Duratec, they produce real good power also, they don't have the Wow Factor of the Cosworth but parts are easy to come by.....   Thinking...... ...
