well, been having an issue with my 1957 9" rear end. making noise and wheels are a little loose. just pressed on new bearings...did nt help !! started looking at drivers side while still apart....notic ed pieces of metal in the axle tube oil...oooof... .sounds like a dead pig...????

9" rears have lots of options. I'm certain you can get chucks and axles if you need them :) Not a dead pig yet, just a wounded pig :D

Smooth backed diff or hump back ?
Smooth, you will have to grind some flange out for fitting.
Humpback bolts right in.

Last year I picked up a hump back diff housing/big axle bearings & it's like new: no rust = rare.
This one is for the blue car.
It will be narrowed.

Just found a Detroit Locker for it.
