New member and SVO Project
« on: March 05, 2013, 11:23:24 PM »
;D Hi everyone. I am a new member of the Pinto Car Club of America. I am and have been a Pinto fan since I was about 14 and have owned a couple in the past. I grew up wanting a 1972 Pinto Wagon- if I were to do a serious ground up restoration job. Well now I am BACK on my project. In my early 20's, I put a 2.3efi from a 91 Mustang into a 1973 Wagon but had to scrap the project before it was finished. Well now I am back with a VENGEANCE! I have a new 1985.5 SVO motor with a *PE* ECU, a T5 out of that same 91 Mustang and... a cherry little 1974 Pinto Wagon (3 speed automatic) I just drove down to Texas with from Charlottesvill e, VA. (that's 1200+ miles in 17 hours in a PINTO!)  So I have a little experience with this swap but if there's anyone with a running version.... well you are now my new best friend. I have to do a brake pedal conversion, a brake booster addition and shoe horn this motor in. Now, I am already making my list of goodies like a clutch/brake assembly, clutch cable, steering column and what ever but if you have already ADDED parts like this to your Pinto, I will be ALL EARS! Well, thanks for listening. Hope to hear from EVERYONE!

Be excellent to each other.

Welcome !! I also have a '74 wagon shell that's getting a 2.3 turbo. I'm a year from starting on it though. I'm still picking up the missing parts myself.....

I did a two part write up on this a while back.  Since you have a '74 some of the things I dealt with you won't have to. Hope you find it helpful. All the best with your project.  Tom
