Look what will be in my Garage
« on: December 20, 2011, 11:13:52 PM »
Allright I have been a semi imposter by not owning a pinto. Althought my 23T is Pinto powered, so please don't throw to many rocks my way. Anyhow, from reading and looking at all the interesting Pinto stuff on here I went out a bought a 72 trunk model. Many parts, but in overall good shape.

This little feller will be in South Texas as soon as I get home from PNG. Sometime around the first week of Feb.

Looking forward to being a Proud Pinto owner and asking many questions from you guys.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAC K!!! I LOVE the green interior!!!

You don't have to be a Pinto owner to be in the club... but it's more fun to have one! I have three!  ;D I joined the club long before I owned a Pinto after 9 years of missing my original one, a '72 trunk model in Grabber Blue. Heck, I still miss her...

Anyway, WELCOME!!! And CONGRATULATION S!!!
One can never have too many Pintos!

Good looking car from what I can see in the pictures. Look forward to more pictures & info on how clean it is.
Let me know if/when you want to part with it ! I may be looking for one next summer, after I get my white one finished. Main reason being, I'm pulling the 302w & T-5 out of mine (has maybe 600 miles on the engine) and replacing with a BOSS 302 & T-10.

Car is going to be better than new ! Looking forward to seeing it when done !

Pictures of mine, from the original ad when it was for sale in MT.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v140/DerrickJB/My%201972%20Pinto/?start=all

Guy in southern AB (Canada) bought it for the engine. Pulled it and sold the car. That next guy built a 302w & backed it up with a T-5. He had a heart attack, so was selling all his toys off. I got the car & this Thursday pick my B2 & other parts up.
Sorry for going off topic ! But part of the reason was, a back seat looks "weird". You can see why in my pictures.

I get a lot of comments on the green interior. Most people expect black. It looks good and it's different.

5 more weeks and out of PNG........... ... Yes!!! Three weeks of working on the Yeller Feller. I have to set one weekend to the side for Christmas in February.

So where is the best place to start on a Pinto? From the wheels up? Get it running first? I don't have a clue? Probably need to start on the garage, for the T doesn't have to sit outside.

Wow, you have a lot of great stuff there, and a great car!

You will be super proud driving it with all of the work you will be putting into it. It's like building a model car, but life size! :D

I like to get the car running first and then do the rest, but I think I would start with the body stuff first, get everything done outside the car and work my way in.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Sorry that I don't comment on all of your pictures its just that my company blocks all of the flicker and photobucket sites. I'm sure all of your cars look great!

I'm thinking on starting the little body work ( something I know how to do )

Then finish up the suspension, not much left there to do. ( Can do some of that )

And last but not least, the thing that intimidates me the most! Drive Train.  ( Did buy a book with plenty of pictures).

Told Santa to bring me One engine hoist and a engine stand.

Dave thanks for the advice. I have read a bunch of your post since I joined.

Thanks for allowing us to participate in your Pinto adventure! :)

It sounds like you x-mas list is just like mine, I'm hoping for the same things but will probably end up with a model sized stand and hoist. lol

I have a close connection with Santa. He knows how much I like deer meat. :o  One thing for sure I don't need a safety vest when I cruise in the yeller feller.

Is or was this car up around Dallas by any chance?

I think I would start with the interior then work my way out. I see there is no heater box in the car or wiring. If your going to pull the motor or even just the head, doing the interior stuff and wiring while it's apart is way easier. Just my thoughts on it.
