I restored my 1971 Runabout and the transmission shifter doesn't lock out of reverse.  Does anyone have a suggestion of what is wrong or a diagram of the transmission showing a spring or clip that lifts the shifter rail to lockout reverse?

U might be missing the c clip that holds tension unto the spring.  Spring could be worn or broken as well. For clip look on top of rubber where metal rod of shifter comes up from tranny.

Thanks,  I'll take a look.  The transmission was out of the car for over 30 years and I'm guessing something broke in moving it around several times?
