Front/Rear Shock Mod
« on: June 15, 2011, 05:45:26 PM »
Has anybody ever modded the Front/rear shock mounts  to utilize after market shocks from another vehicle, say a mustang ?  the choices are huge compaired to the choices offered to the pinto world.

this would be for a drag car, specifically  90/10's in front and 50/50's in the rear.  or adjustables, like the ones that are available to the mustang crowd.

Dunno about the rear but in the front you could always run QA1 coil overs at right around 500 they aint cheap though.

wow, yeah I saw those, dont really want to spend that much on shocks, there  should be a little more economically priced quality shock

after some consulting with jugalo777                                                          the tentative plan is, for the fronts ......http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KON-802660SPA1/Application/?query=Make%7cFORD

and for the rear........
will probably get shocks from these guys since I will be using caltrac's  traction bars. they have 9 position adjustable rear shocks

So did you ever get a set of those and, if so, how did they work out?  I need more weight transfer on my car and I'm starting to look at these...

G-Force 5 Speed
10 point rollcage
Single stage NOS Cheater system

275 rwhp 350 lb/ft on motor.....some thing a bit more than that on the spray.

Regarding the front shocks, I did some searching and found that some of the Datsun/Nissan Pick up shocks came close to meeting the physical characteristic s of Pinto shocks. But, being that you mentioned 90/10's I doubt there would be something specific for that. Regardless here is a link to that post and the small possibility that it leads to something for you. http://www.fordpinto.com/index.php?topic=25878.0
