Title: Hokey Throttle on my 1971 - any better set up out there to be done?

I've been screwin with it, my little bushings on the shaft were worn. so I made a little metal tube to mod it. but still can't seem to get my carb secondaries to open all the way. sucks!!!

I have the stock set up on it from the factory

The 73 2.0 used different set up.  Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it right now.

I gonna see if i can come up with a simple type set up,  like on my 67 Chevy Nova  :-\
