high performance 2.0
« on: June 19, 2015, 09:39:09 PM »
Going to start piecing together the parts to build a high performance 2.0 for my 71 ford pinto. Want to keep the 2.0 that was in it to keep it as original as possible, just want a completely overhauled engine with above 200 horse all motor if possible 8) Just did a head rebuild for the time being as its my daily driver, but it will be getting a t5 manual in the next few months to get rid of the auto but then I will start piecing a motor together. What upgrades would you all recommend for the highest horse? Going to be putting some sort of side draft carbs on it probably webers, but from then on im stuck and need some advice on some parts and what to go with to get such horsepower. Would like to avoid turbos and superchargers if possible.

check omex.co.uk. Why T5? look at T9 upgrades, much better fit, I think.

From what ive read the t5 is stronger than the t9.. Trying to go as strong as possible just so i only have to do it once..

Sorry about that; omextechnology .co.uk, also check burtonpower.co m, wilcoxengines. co.uk/pinto.htm, there's lots to find.
I applaud your intention to stick to the 2.0, but unblown and uninjected 150 horse is more realistic for a car that is also supposed to be a daily driver.

A 200hp 2.0 engine would not be streetable. Could only be reached with a turbo or super charger.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

Spent some time doing a little reading on supercharging pintos..   ;) Seems like its a pretty big debate on what supercharger to use for the 4cyl pinto.

Lucky for 72 Dutch Wagon, all the books and good parts are near him, the last time that engine was used here was in 1974,   Most people thought they quit making it when the ford Lima 2.3 entered that same year, only in the UK and nearby country's used it untel a few years ago, so plenty of parts and upgrades like factory EFI , better blocks , and stroker steel crankshafts, here we have to hunt , there run to the nearest speed shop and buy, so I am waiting untel  Dutch Wagon is done with his project and se how much better the car is with a latest 2.0,   Keep us posted , later Blaine
