3.8 SC into 1977 2.8 Cruising Wagon
« on: April 22, 2014, 05:39:41 PM »
This topic has been kicked around a bit. Appreciate ANY links that would be of help. I have available to me a long block for $50! I truly don't know the condition, yet, but I'm anticipating a tear down and rebuild. Even if it was running when pulled I just don't trust engines that have sat.

My pinto is all original except for paint. Complete factory car, purchased from original owner. The original V6 has 160k (roughly) and the oil burning made me retire her. I believe that doing a full rebuild of that engine will be in the same ball park as the SC engine and the SC engine should net me many bonus points, not to mention originality (haven't confirmed an SC swap, yet). Anyone who knows the Cruising Wagon knows they don't have stock running gear. Mine has the C4 and 8" rear.

Thoughts, opinions, etc. are welcome.

Thanks!

Note: The Turbo 2.3 from the 79 Mustang could go into the Pinto IF the SC swap isn't feasible. But the SC in the Pinto would be such a conversation piece, and nice all around "runner".
