Hello ya''l

I have a 1975 pinto V6 2.8 L  automatic with points and condensor set-up.  I want to change it over to HEI electronic.  I see Cardone sells the electronic distributor for $67 bucks not incl rotor and cap.

My question:  How hard is it to change over? Will it work fine with the current coil I have?  What else needs to be changed?
Thanks,
Scout

Your gonna need a blue grommet ignition module too. You can get the wiring from box to distributor off a buncha different cars with that type system. Power hook up
 is easy too.

Thanks for the reply, but I need more details.   Where this is a PINTO forum, I'm sure people have converted and gotten rid of the points?   I cant be the first...

Mallory sells the drop in conversion, but after the purchase the instructions conveniently tell you that you need the Mallory distributor to go along with the convertor. ( up around $200 after that )   Not sure about the Petronix conversion product?  Anyone?

I have found the least expenisve route is to purchase the " exact fit "  ( NAPA ) distributor, but I cant find schematics on how to wire it in.  If I had schematics, I would just create my own wiring harness to fit it..   Need more insight?  Anyone?

Pertronix conversions work fairly well.
We used to sell them long ago, mostly
to farmers for trucks and tractors.
I wouldnt be scared to run one.

Heres a factory type wiring diagram. Cheapest way with a common parts store dist. and module.  Plus no special parts if it happens to break down on you.
