Title: AUX input to Pinto AM Radio
Post by: Rebolting73 on March 01, 2015, 11:09:17 PM
Hi, I tried the AUX input mod on my broken factory AM Philco Radio... Swapped out the capacitors and the radio worked great, so I cut in an AUX jack too.  It's a cheap hack, but seems to work great.  I put some pics here...  http://palaceofkibble.com/Philco%20AUX.htm   Am still looking for a good replacement speaker.  Seems like there is not much out there for 2 watt 2.3 Ohm dash speakers  :P

Simplyspeakers is new to me, pretty cool site.  Am going to watch some of their repair videos and see what I can learn.  I had heard that the Ken Harrison  Model SP 570 for 67 through 73 Mustangs should be a direct fit and it's about 20 bucks.  Anyone used one of of them ?   Pintocrazed their are shops that do just that.  They gut your radio and put in everything you can think of, inputs, outputs, bluetooth, the works. You turn the power off-on-off-on and rotate through the modes very spiffy.

Here is what I did-

Replaced the mono speaker with a dual coil speaker that fit exactly-

This guy also gutted my am and made it into an am/fm with an aux input... Have it hooked up to my iPhone to stream music/gps when I' m driving...
